On my Kurtis build, the exhaust goes under the rear suspension. I would like to get it as outboard as possible, The tires have tall sidewalls (31" tire on 18" wheels) so there will def be some flex. Not sure the safe distance to avoid too much heat in the rubber.

I am using stainless for the exhaust, so I can use heat wrap.

I attached the inspiration photo as well as my car

I am planning on 2" clearance, but am open to any advice

Thanks
Sean

You're fine, 2" is a ton of space. The only way that the tire could get hot is if you're idling at a stop for a very long time with much less clearance. Yes, tire flex is a factor, and is probably more important than the exhaust.

Ceramic coating that section of tailpipe would add an insulation factor if need be.

Great progress on your build.

Chopped the corner of the chassis and got the exhaust fitted. Min clearance is just over 1-1/2"
I cut back the 2 90* elbows to about 60* - they are oriented down and towards the car at 45* angle

Tom - I have all the equip to powder coat and cerakote - def a good place for it
