EDIT: It's free if I keep the wheels.

Well, it's finally time to pass my project on to a new owner who will finish it up. It's been a great journey, but my priorities have moved on since I started it, and I just know that I won't end up finishing it at this point. I'd love to see someone take it over and make it into their own - it is a great base for someone who wants to build a Locost but is intimidated by the frame build.

The frame is of my own measurements and design, and is complete. The drivetrain is done, using an '84 300ZX transmission and shortened and rebuilt driveshaft, with the rear subframe from a MKIII Supra. The front suspension is identical to the Supra geometry, with completed steering. As far as the engine goes, the '88 Legend C27A has an adapter plate to the transmission, but if I were to continue the project I would simply find an longitudinal single-cam Nissan VG which will bolt to the transmission and get the car running quickly.

I am not looking to make any money on this, and am only putting in an asking price to prevent someone taking the car, pulling off the expensive bits and scraping the rest. The Enkei wheels are 18x10, there's a complete Tilton pedal setup, and much more. Extras like the MegaSquirt III and other parts can be negotiated on. I took hundreds of photos throughout the project, so it is well documented.

The car is located in Victoria BC, and I'll be more than happy to answer any questions about it!

Thanks!

Glenn

That looks like a screaming deal. I've exceeded my project limit, but whoever jumps on this should be very happy.

I should also mention that I'm happy to keep the wheels and send off the rest of the frame and parts for free! I'd love to see all my hard work actually put to good use.

How soon would you need this gone? I am in Seattle, not a terrible ferry ride away....

I'm giving it a couple months on the market... after that it will be hauled away for scrap, which is a heartbreaking thought!

Seattle definitely isn't too far away; I'd be happy to drive you to/from the Clipper terminal if you wanted to drop by and see it for a day - feel free to send me an email!

bump. The frame is free if I keep the wheels.

Would love to see this put to good use by someone - a lot of work put into this and it's just waiting to be finished up!

The sawzall is waiting... and it gets fired up on New Year's Day if this hasn't found a home... less than two months to go!

BTD, not sure if you can PM before posting twice. Give this thread a bump and you will be a full member after your second post is approved...

Glenn's build log: viewtopic.php?t=16511

It has been quite a while since I last looked at his build thread, and I'd forgotten how impressive his work is.

Glenn has already done all the hard stuff; it's a roller. It's not "standard", but few Locost builds are. The engine is unusual but it's a recent-production design, known to be reliable, and parts are easily available anywhere in North America, and it should make more than sufficient power.

If you want something more 7-ish you can cut off the extra bodywork support bits and skin it in aluminum as usual. You might have to splice a nose cone to fit; lots of builders wind up doing that and they manage without laughably bodged results.

Consider how much work has already been done. You don't need a build table, sourcing quantities of metal, structural welding, suspension geometry... sometimes it takes years for a builder to make it that far. Realistically, how much time and money would it take you to get to an equivalent place, starting with what is in your garage right now?

Maybe it's not your personal idea of a 7, but you'd never get a running car done any cheaper or faster. And then you'd know if you want to tackle a complete build, and if you really wanted the end product when you were done.

Wheelbase and track?
Wondering if I could make a Dio-Tipo or other vintage look body fit.

This is very tempting as it looks like such a great start! My folks have a seasonal home in Victoria, and I will be up there in about a month! I wonder how difficult it would be to bring back through the border?

Yah, the border, and my not having an up to date passport. :(

Oh, come ON, people! Someone give this car a home!

Duct-tape some cardboard "body panels" to the sides and run it in A-Mod or something...
