1. Budget? There are cars available from <$5,000 to the mid-teens.

2. Intended use? Street, track day, wheel-to-wheel racing?

A little additional information might help prospective sellers present cars that are more inline with what you are looking for.

Good luck and welcome to the most fun you can have on 4 wheels.

Croc on USA7s list posts a lot of cars for sale almost every day. Most are Caterhams and Lotus but there are some Locosts and other se7ens on his list http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php? ... post102543

Stalker cars (stalkercars.com) is in St Petes, I think a stalker would fit your needs perfectly. They are street legal, very reliable and power levels are fast to crazy. Speak to Scott he can make the car to your specifications and can customize it to your needs.

The "well sorted" part points to the Stalker which Wrightcomputing has mentioned.

For kits like Caterham etc. the USA7's sight can help. For the Locost and "well sorted" it would help to learn the variations on the frame and how to evaluate stiffening mods for power levels etc. So that would take some studying.

With both the Stalker and the Caterham you at last have a community of similar cars which helps you find problems. If you build your own locost, you have the experience of doing so and then can keep an eye on things. This can be a big deal for a high performance piece of equipment.

Call me skeptical, but does this sound like possibly a SCAM? Maybe it's just me but why would a group of people who currently drive high HP and big $$$ cars want a $10,000 toy that some stranger built in his garage?

I'm probably wrong, as usual, if you ask my better half!

It could just be a marketing scam to gain traffic to their website. Why does a post about buying a 7 have a link to a property website? I would recommend a Mod remove that link seeing as the poster only has a few posts. Regardless of weather they are a genuine buyer the link offers no relative value to anyone on here.

What's fishy is posting as "we", implying "they" are some large entity rather than an individual. I've seen this before, usually trying to hint that spending money for "them" is easy and that you should "hurry" before the opportunity is gone, "operators standing by."

Odd loser? Who? I don't see it that way at all. This is a quite tight-knit community who go out of their way to help out anybody looking to move the sport forward. If the OP is genuinely interested in looking to purchase a lo-cost/sevenesque type vehicle and be a contributing member of this forum, that's AWESOME, the more the merrier, but please go about it the right way. Go and create a thread to introduce yourself and your buddies, not your business. It's great that you can afford a new toy and the means by which you make that money is not really something that we need to know up-front. We are all more interested in YOU, your background and mechanical abilities, pictures of your other toys are always fun to look at and figuring out what you plan to do with a new toy purchase.

Just a thought........

I've been distracted by end-of-year stuff and haven't followed this thread with any rigor, so I don't know what the OP has edited out, but if it's a serious inquiry I'll +1 w650gb500's first response--more info on what you want will help us help you.

That type of post you made always gives the likes of KB58s the green light to type their drivel.
We're highly tolerant of DIY car drivel, but real estate drivel would be better posted elsewhere. It seems to me that the OP got a number of positive and helpful responses, and I'm sorry he was sad to remove his advert, and I hope he followed up on the many good suggestions that were offered to him.
