This past event reminded him of how much fun he has in this vehicle. He is digging into the vehicle now to complete by next year all that he wants to change. So we have a vehicle next year, God forbid something goes wrong.

My final thoughts on 2015 Gathering
Thankful for no severe weather causing a disaster and I am thankful for all who came. For me these Gatherings serve as my yearly vacation and an opportunity to see again some great people. I am looking forward to next year's.

I do plan to let everyone know what went wrong. It's just that things look pretty busy this week, so I don't know when I'll be able to take the car apart.

From the sounds it makes, it does sound serious.

I know it's been a while, but I can now finally report ('fess up is probably more accurate) as to the cause of the car problem on the way home. The problem was in the transmission brought on by a total lack of fluid. It seems that over the past couple of years, all the fluid leaked out. Since it's hard to check, it didn't get done. I know, that's no reason, and I take full responsibility for it.

The repairs took a bit longer than I had hoped, but the car is now back on the road and working as well as ever.

The story of how I found someone to do the repairs is kind of interesting. I had parked the car and was waiting for a tow after calling Roadside Assistance. A car with four guys stopped to ask if my car was a 'Super 7'. The following conversation about the problem had them offers of use of a local shop and also put me in contact with a guy who was a reported transmission expert.

Based on the recommendation of a total stranger, I arranged for him to do the repair. That was successful and the ending was happy, at least so far. Needless to say, I shall be MUCH more attentive to leaks under the transmission!

Bill

Am thankful that both you and vehicle were not critically hurt. Happy that vehicle is up, running, and you corrupted a few others.

Well, he can't be too bad if he recognized the car as a "Super 7" There are not too many who do. That makes him a "car guy" in my book. Even better that it all worked out in the end.

Hope the rebuild didn't cost an arm and a leg.

My no-fluid experience was better. I drove ~50 miles with a few teaspoons of oil in my trans during my shake down sessions. After putting in some fluid, it is still working well for me.

Chuck, the rebuild wasn't too bad. It was the ride home on the rollback that was a bit pricey.

I am glad you are back on the road. I was talking with Brent the other day and we were wondering what had happened with your car. Now if I could ever get mine back on the road for more than a day at a time. I doubt if if will be roadable this summer. Russ
