I bought a parts car for my Locost. Just in case. Another good reason for a building a Locost using a single donor, you can have a parts car for it. My Locost doesn't need any parts right now, but you never know. Best to be prepared.

I got the car cheap because it needed engine work. As it turned out, I was able to fix it pretty easily, so now I have a parts car I can drive around. So I registered it and got insurance for it. Pretty happy with it so far. Hopefully the Locost won't need any parts off it anytime soon.

That's too nice to scrap. How about this instead, clean it up nice and sell it at a good price, and with that money, buy a non-running donor for 1/4 as much and invest your gains in other needed parts.

I'll second Kurt. MGB GTs are cool and that looks like a nice chrome bumper driver - nice score.

I'm a fan of throwing stuff on eBay with no reserve and starting the auction at the lowest price I'll take. I sold a trailer for what I bought it for new doing this. Don't k ow what you have in it but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you started an auction at a few grand.

If you cut the roof off with a sawzall and just let it sit outside until you need parts from it, people will stop worrying that you might ruin a perfectly good B-GT by keeping it as a parts car.

I agree too good to scrap, if I were closer i'd offer to take it off your hands less the motor, gearbox and maybe the front suspension. I've always wanted to fully resto mod a GT (Supra inline 6, sebring flares, etc.).

I'll just leave these here for inspiration. :)

You probably don't want yet another opinion, but I have to agree, Nick. That ones too good to part out. It's great that you're enjoying it. But if you can find it a good home for it, make some money on it, and then spend part of that income on a true parts car, all the better.

Cheers,

I probably wasn't too clear in my original post. I've no intention of parting it out. It's only known as 'the parts car' around here to keep the peace.

Good call...and good score!

Around here, a restorable BGT will fetch a LOT of money (around the $8K-$10K range)!
