Hi all,

I am curious if a standard book frame can use Miata's uprights. I bought a half-finished project locost last summer. The builder used mustang II / pinto upright on a book chassis. The issue is spindle is too high and need to move the upper control arm brackets up...

I am sure a lot of people have done Miata-based build. Can anyone tell me if you had to move UCA bracket locations up or you can use the book location just fine?

Or anybody can give me info on the height of Miata upright? Do NA and NB use the same upright?

I was looking into the Kinetic Vehicle's control arm kit, they are designed for Miata's upright. Anybody can speak for that?

If I am going to use Miata upright, then I probably will need wheel lug adapters as my current wheel lug pattern are 4 X 4- 1/4" (Pinto and Mustang II) front and back, Miata use 4x100 (correct me if I'm wrong). I will have to either make the front match rear then i don't have to buy miata wheels or make rear match front and buy 4 miata wheels.

Attached is a picture of the bracket height. My car has the exact bracket location.

The above link will take you to a really neat suspension analysis program called Vsusp. You plug in the numbers in your design such as the location of suspension mounts and spindle length, and it will allow you to see what your combination will do as it goes through its motions. Read through the discussion on that thread and you will learn a lot! Have fun.
