Don’t throw in the towel just yet. Look at crown vic alloy and cop car rims in 16x7 or 17x7 with 54mm offset (54mm/25.4+7/2+0.5 for 6.12 inch BS). No need for drop spindles though the increase in scrub from a drop is not much considering where you are at. |

Going to 16's or 17's would also push you towards 25" tires, from the 23" tires typically used with performance 15's. This is certainly not all bad. In addition to likely better long-term tire availability, and inverse to the drop spindle effect, the extra inch of rolling radius will naturally reduce the scrub radius. |

Please fix the bump steer by relocating the tie rod ends first and then take a drive. I think you will be more than pleasantly surprised. A lot of cars are driving around with a lot of scrub without any serious problems. |

Ditto. Could also be you have a particularly low leverage/fast steering rack that makes the effort a lot more than it needs to be. You could just go for a narrower wheel with more offset in a 15 that does not hit the UCA. I've not seen a build here where the rim was as far from the UBJ as yours. I asked you a couple times about how you determined the wheels you have are 3 inch BS. A 4 inch BS 15x7 would be a big improvement and match the rear. You could refit the same 235 tires. You could probably buy a rim and center unwelded from Bassett or Bart in DOT spec or "ultralight". I've special ordered barts through Jegs for free shipping. One thing to look out for when buying welded is run out tolerance. The vic high offset rims were 02 and newer. There are some great looking wheels to choose from. I just assumed you like black steelies. |

I was just looking through my speedway motors race catalog and they list bart wheel shells and centers. A 5x4.5 D-hole center is 12.5 inch OD and costs $29. They have 8, 10 and 14 inch wide 15 inch shells with the 8 inch at $39. They could probably order a 7 inch. Almost like having three piece wheels. Don't have to worry about air tight welds, just need to set up a plunger indicator with the center tight on the spindle mounted hub with the lugs, tap the rim to minimize the lateral runout. |
