This morning I pulled the long axle from a Toyota Tacoma with ADD.
I will be replacing it with another short axle to create an IRS center section.

Looking at the ADD unit it seems to have some possible use as a coupling to engage a reverse mechanism.
Two splines, one of which is an axle I will no longer need.
And the ADD unit which moves a splined sleeve that couples the axle to the diff.
Strong enough to handle 4x4 front axle so should be plenty strong for a BEC.

Will try to post pics if anyone is interested.
Have not developed the idea, just crossed my mind that there may be some potential there.
