in this video, they use 3d print metal as joint for carbon tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXY4DU8ZqA8 it is a very easy way to build a chassis, however, metal 3d printing is too expensive for normal people in this web, this carbon tube structures also can hold high loading, only need contact plate, Rivet & epoxy bonding https://dragonplate.com/Square-CF-Tube-Structures what if we use both at the same time? for more easy to see different parts, I use different color for them a nylon x (carbon fiber nylon 3d print material) as inner joint, its strength is nearly metal and very light Attachment: 无标题.png 2 aluminum plate as outside joint Attachment: 无标题2.png special cutting make the tube connect each other, so the force can transfer between the tubes directly. I like your concept and agree that aluminum plate is better than carbon fiber plate for the concentrated loads at joints. How about building a model of a joint? |
