Guys,
Seats seem to be an often asked question because of the restricted interier room on these cars. I built a +4 frame and off-set the tunnel to the passenger's side and seat width was still a problem. My solution. The nice molded seat from Summit Racing along with their cover just fits on the driver's side. For the passenger seat I used alum. and wood and made the passenger's seat 17 1/2" wide, but formed it to fit the Summit cover so the 2 seats would "look" the same once mounted in the car. See pix of covered alum. seat and not covered molded seat. I think they will look OK.

Not really. After careful measurement of the Summit seat, I laid out a posterboard pattern, transfered the pattern to the alum. and cut the seatback in one piece and the seat bottom from another. Used a H/F box brake to fold the alum. sheet to form the "seat". At the moment, 7 rivets are joining the back & bottom together with 4 more in the area where the lapbelt holes will be cut and 2 more to make a 10 degree bend at about the mid point of the bottom. This was done to assure that the Summit cover was going to fit properly before these seams will be welded as welding will be done by a real welder. I do not posess that skill.
I have 1/2" plywood pieces ready for cut/fit tomorrow and plan to contact cement 1/2" foam to the back and 1" thickness to the seat, and with the Summit seat cover, this should be adequate for occasional passenger use. If you or others feel that a picture would
be more helpful than than my 160 words, I'll take one without the cover on tomorrow to show more detail and post it, as well.
Thanks for your interest. Don
