Anybody know what happened to the WCM Ultralite.com folks? I tried to locate them recently and came up with a dead end. Their web site is currently "suspended"!? They make (made ?) one very inspirational evolutionary iteration of the ole' 7 design.

I recall seeing something on the USA7s site about them being sold and that the new buyer was intending to carry on - but I just had a quick look and couldn't find that string again.

Loren Edwards bought the company and is working on improving the line up.

He's working on suspension and making it take more engines.

Loren's a good guy and will definitely give more customer service than did Brian. Brian was a tinkerer more so than a people person. Don't get me wrong, I liked Brian. He and the missus went out with us a number of times and I still count him a friend. He helped build a good community of owners.

Loren will definitely carry the flame forward in a very positive manner.

That is good news as the line did represent real innovation and quality as far as I could determine. I spoke with Brian a few times a few years ago (early on in my build, which is progressing at the speed of imperceptible movement)! He seemed a great guy and offered useful information that helped me in developing a course of action for my project. The orange Ultralite pic makes for good desktop wallpaper.

You note the new owner is working on improvements to the suspension design? Any chance of getting a hold of a pair of their spindles? I'm using Mustang II spindles and would like to source something a bit lighter if they can be found at a reasonable price. Do you know if the new owner is considering a Kit line as well? I'm a bit down the road to start over but perhaps for the next project, (if there is one).

I don't know what he'll be offering, but to the best of my knowledge the spindles were Fiero/Chevette.

Hmmmm. The ULtralite picture above looks like the a custom aluminum spindle assembly. The resolution is not sufficient on enlarged shots to see it with any particular clarity but sure seems to be a custom piece similar to what I've seen on a few indy cars..... Admittedly with a fuzzy picture, aging eyes and a good imagination, there may not be as much to love there as I assume.....

The orange car above is the XR7 model and uses mustang 2 spindles. It is just powdered coated silver. The S2k model uses a Fiero spindle.

One of the owners did machine some uprights from billet, but I would have sworn it was rear uprights

I didn't know the 2 models had different geometry.

I know you were working on the geometry, what spindles are you going to be using?

What neat and cool things are you willing to share with the group?
