Doing a 2F1R that I think is fairly unique. It's a single seater and I put the engine where the passenger would go. I know I'm not the first to do it, but the arrangement is working out really well. To keep the "3" theme going, got a Triumph Daytona 955i 3 cylinder engine in it. Corny but, well, so am I!

Would love to put the whole thing in here too, but I already have blog going with the build:

Here's a quick pic of the CAD. Not complete, just enough in it for me to work out the geometry:

This is pretty close to what I would like to do. My inspiration is the SUB three wheeler. ( www.sub3wheeler.com ). My only suggestion would be to move the engine farther forward to get the CG closer to the front wheels. See the discussion on three wheel vehicle dynamics on the R Q Riley page. http://www.rqriley.com/3-wheel.htm :)

That is a good read, thanks for the link. I love the looks of the Sub, one thing that I think would drive me crazy though - the driver sits at an angle to get the nose as narrow as possible. I don't think I'd like driving that at all.

Have made some decent progress - should have it "standing" on it's own 3 wheels before I have to go back to work on the 3rd!

Check the blog link above for details, here's a couple pics. Sorry the quality sux, used my blackberry...

Lookin' good! I've also thought the Speed Triple and its variants would make a great donor; a little narrower package and lots of torque. One thing to consider however is that a motorcycle swingarm is not designed to take the kind of side loading that it will get in a non-tilting trike application. It's probably fine but something to at least consider while you're laying out the rear end. :)

Yeah, I've had the same worry. Hoping when they built the single sided unit they overcompensated for twisting and it'll work OK. Version 2 will have a scratchbuilt swingarm and a car wheel/tire with some more meat - this is the learning mule.

It's been a while, but she's standing on her own 3 wheels now. The front end is pretty much tacked together (including, of course the channel-lock steering wheel) and the motor mounts are coming together. Still have lots some more triangles to add, but most of the major points are fixed. Got it on the scales today, pretty happy with the distribution so far, LF 222, RF 224, R 385 with me in it - with luck it should still come in under 1k - at least until I get a body on it. Was really surprised the L/R was so close - my placements were all best guesses and it worked out pretty good! I know that's light on the front, heavy on the rear but from here on out, most of the weight being added will be at or near the front end so it should balance out even better in the end.

Cool project, I'm in the planning stages for an RT myself.

That was my first thought, but something to consider is that when a bike is leaned over and hits bumps, there's no suspension in the lateral direction to lessen impact loads, so those swingarms might be just fine.
