You mean other than it's ugly?

There were several of that era that used the oversized front fender bulges and the big upwards sloping rear end that ruined the looks of the car. It was neither this nor that.

It wasn't a tourer and it wasn't a svelte track carver either.

Beauty is in the eye...... I kind of like it. I'd hate to get in and out of it in a hurry.

Here is what I quickly found: http://lotuseleven.org/DarkAges6/gullwing%20expose.htm

Me too. I don't know why but I see MGB-GT in the rear end.

Little bit of MG-GT I guess... There is a MG-GT in my hood that just sits under a carport. I'm tempted to stop by and see what the deal is... Maybe it could be had for cheap.. Maybe not.. Rather have an X-1/9 to tinker but it's cool anyway.

While the Lotus 11 isn't the prettiest car out there, there is something about it I like. And this fastback version seems to make it more attractive to me. I wonder how aerodynamically slick it is.

I think its fantastic ..sort of a cross between an e type jag and a daytona coupe..much nicer than some of the ugly crap I work on ,ever looked at an allard or kaiser darrin ? Both are $150,000 peices of crap that like an ugly painting someone pays thru the nose for

The open 11 must be pretty slippery since 90hp will push it to 140mph. Sometimes beauty is form following function. Or the classic so ugly it's cute (Bulldog). It does look a little like a miniature E-type.

I like it. The aero is a big improvement over a traditional locost. The car would also have better acceleration at highway speed.

The aero on the front is good, but the rear needs work.

The rear arches are two high as was mentioned. They should copy the curvature of the front ones and start a gentle flare out at the middle of the door to eliminate the "barn door" flare's leading edge.

The rear wheels should have as much skirt as the front and could have more since the rear wheels don't steer.

The pan behind the rear wheels is at too steep an angle.

The exhaust looks good but doesnt help aero. It should be covered. The front fender well high pressure area can blow through the exhaust well

The rear fenders on the roadster 11 were high because the designers of the day felt that they needed to pull the centre of pressure aft for directional stability, but their wind tunnel tests (if any) didn't credit the stability provided by the tire contact patches. And they hadn't yet experienced 'flying sports cars' so longer finned tails were more common than spoilers or the Kamm variety.

The wheel well isnt connected in any way to the exhaust cut out. The under bonnet panels seal everything (well attempt to) off. I have seen some Elevens with a cover over the exhaust, fairing it in, but from what i've read, the temps went up with the exhaust covered.

In regards to the De Havilland coupe, the Eleven register has now figured out what car it is, and the only part of the body that Costin had anything to do with it is the bonnet (though its not correct for the S2 chassis). It was sold to someone at DH and was supposedly built by the apprentices. I quite like, though the front arches should have been cut round, the turning circle is horrible with the stock arches. There were a number of coupes built in the sixties, and some were cool looking, others not so much

I was suggesting a vent be added to the exhaust well. This would drop the well temp a bit, lower fender well pressure, and get the air flowing in the right direction.

The vent doesn't need to be directly behind the tire tread to be effective, so the port and exhaust can stay free of stones and mud.

 Harsh but true, our local fire truck had one even.

I give it an ugly vote too, never been overwhelmed by British styling though and never liked the E Type Fixed Head either.
