How long until registration?

Nice. Actually, I like the exposed trans, looks more like a race car to me.

1st autocross yesterday, thing went well. My goal out of the event was to be able to run it all day with out breaking and be able to load it up on the trailer under it's own power. The seven ran good all day, I was able to get in around 15 run on coarse and a couple dozen skip pad trips in during the coarse of the test in tune.

In the morning the car was very skiddish but after a couple of changes and the tempature working it's way out of the 40 in the AM thing started to come to gether in the PM.

Now I have a list of small bugs to work out, slicks to order and a few body panels to finish up before next event.

Chris, I really like that picture! I'm trying to do the design for my car's suspension so I really enjoy shots that actually show the parts at work.

It looks like you're cornering hard and your steering angle is pretty neutral. Are you happy with how the car is behaving? Is it a little loose?

It was slidding around a little, but don't go by the skid marks. It was a Test and Tune so the coarse was reset during the day so the direction entering that gate changed from the morning runs.

Had some free time this weekend, so I focused on building the mounts for the front cycle fenders. I looked around on the forums at other designs and decided to scrap the aluminum ones I started to build a while back. I felt they would not be strong enough to hold up long term and decide the couple of pound added by doing them in steel may save me from remaking a couple months down the road.

I kept it pretty simple. Two tabs with ½ tubing bent in 90 degrees welded to them. Then to straighten up the assemble I triangulated the two pieces. Doing my scientific pulling and tugging test it seems fairly strong. Then for each wheel assembly I made up four tabs to be welded onto the tubes and taped them for 10-32 screws that will come through the top side of the fender with rubber washers and Locktite.

The photo show cap head screws, but I’ll change them to either button heads with rubber washers to protect the paint.

Sunday night I then put a couple coats of high build primer to smooth out the fiberglass. These parts where from Cloveland Motorsports and the gel coating was not a smooth as the rear fenders and scuttle I picked up from Kinetics. Nothing two coats of high build primer and some wet sanding won’t fix. Last night I wet sanded them down with 500 grit, tonight some sealer primer and paint. I'll post pics when done.

Your supports have a connecting tube down low, how about moving that, or adding one, up top that follows the curve of the fender. That would support the fender a little more and might give a longer life before it flies off if one support should break.

This build is awesome. I just read through from the beginning. I love the aircooled motor and the transaxle sticking out the back. The sound from the video is great too. Can't wait for more videos.

I like the exposed transaxle. It's like the car has a hard on. (Can I say that here?)

What cool build! We have the same air cleaners. 8) Let me know if you are still looking for those CB heads and cylinders. I have a new set of 94's and lightly used CB wedge ports I've been trying to sell. I'm putting a more mild engine in my Manx.

It's been a while since I've been on Locostusa, just wanted to go an update.

I made the hood for the 7, it turned out ok. I did front bend right so I'll being makeing another sometime in the future.

So far this year I've gotten the car to a test and tune and two solo points events. One with Philly region and one With Nepa Scca. There has been some magor dialing in and I'm happy with the progress made from the test and tune to the last event at Nepa where I finished 3rd in fastest time out of 76 competitors. Pax time still needs some improvement.
