Isn't it about that time to donate to this amazing site?

You can't put a price on all the info and entertainment that's offered here.

I did, about 6 years ago. Chet sent my $10 back. I could try again, though.

We could send it in cash with no return address, then he couldn't send it back. "Here, take this or else!" Sounds kinda like a belligerent Santa Claus.

I sent $50. It was never cashed and my PMs and emails were ignored by Hempy, so good luck with that.

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

+1. I'd also like to donate. I've gained so much information, direction, and motivation from this site, it's about time to give back! Every other forum I'm a part of has monetized itself either by ads (NOOOO NOOOOO!!!!!), or by having supporting memberships (yesss). Nothing wrong with accepting donations from willing donators!

This is one site that disproves the commonly held opinion "You get what you pay for!" We get so much more. And maybe that is what makes it so great. By not paying, we don't get the entitlement feeling: "I paid so I'll say/do what I want!" which is normally prevalent on so may other sites.

That being said, I'd gladly pay to support the site, offer dinner to our benevolent hosts, or find some other way of saying "THANKS" to all that make this possible. If only I knew how.......

In the mean time, my THANKS go out to all who own, manage and moderate this wonderful place. Without you, I would have been lost during my build. Not to understate the contribution of all of the members, who manage to keep the oft found disrespect of others to an absolute minimum.

I am fairly sure you could monetize the site for non member. Ie. if you are not logged in you will see discrete Google Ads. The site should then generate more then enough revenue to cover hosting cost plus a little compensation for time etc.

A few years ago, something came up about the fees for hosting the site. I think Mr. Dave Hempy was the one in charge of getting it taken care of. Maybe we should check with him?

Hempy, are ya listening??? Do we need to ante up to keep the lights on at LocostUSA?
