Forgot to feed the monkeys. Monkeys fed.

Looks like we were down from maybe 4 am this morning until a few minutes ago. Back to your addiction, you Locost Junkies!

Love,
Team Mod

ps. HUGE THANKS to Marcus for calling me to let me know the site was down! Might have been down all week without his help!

Hey Dave!
Thanks for fixing my addiction... Now I'll have to stay up all night to "catch up on my reading!"

Well, since no one was able to post till a short while ago there won't be much to read, that is unless others stay up all night writing content for you to read.

Me? I'm going to bed. (of course I've already read all the content from today)

Well, at least no one posted any complaints about the site being down while the site was down... ;-)

going to another site is like methadone o.k. but not the real stuff!!!

we need hard core, not some wimpy playboy imitation, nothing gets the blood coursing through the viens like a good argument on geometry or the aspects of fiberglass lamination.

we think we are all budding engineers but we are just speed junkies.

Exactly, we want to read how to make it, not where to buy it.

We all luv ya Dave, no way we could get mad.

OK, all you heavy metal junkies...today was your second dose of soft rock! Hope you liked it, and got lots done at work today. Who knows...maybe your second productive day at work this month will get you a raise, so you can buy more tools!

The bad news is that this is the second corrupt table in a month. And if memory serves, the second corrupt table in...I dunno...two or three years? Hmm...wonder if they "upgraded" our server recently...

The good news is that I can now fix this error pretty darned quick. :| After Marcus or Jack calls to tell me it's down, that is.

Anyone want to be on the Official Just-Made-Up Locost Monitoring Council? Shoot me a PM if you're a rabid visitor and can dial a telephone. This is an exclusive offering with extremely limited quantities, so act now!

Sigh...

Dave.
the outage here stirred up something in my mind (danger danger)
who 'owns' the LoCostUSA board/forum? how is it paid for? is there advertising that supports it?
Personally, I wouldn't mind 'dropping a dime' to support this board, inasmuch as I learn quite a bit reading the various threads.

Cue Music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKVp-atyiVA

on another note, I was reading a thread somewhere and the commentary was that there is not a whole lot of people in the US building the Locost. do we have a database of finished builds? drivers/track cars?. Not that I need to know any of this, but it is somewhat interesting..
LoCost is but one variation, and Locost can apply to ANY vehicle with the intent. I have learned things via the streetrodders, musclecar guys, even the 4x4 offroaders that all apply to the LoCost hobby.
Egoman's Intrepid rear engine oddity is just as cool as the Roofus special, as well as Midlandia or any of the others.
the writer of the thread was wondering if he was going to be 'one of many' being a basic Haynes/Miata combo. I don't think that it's possible to be the same as everyone else, everyone is different.

When I get my car finished<started> I intend to put a LoCostUSA logo on it with a Q-code for anyone wanting information, a builders photo album of sorts.

"This is NOT a Kit car, but a completely hand
made high performance automobile following
the principles laid out by Colin Chapman:
Simplify and add Lightness"

FWIW I have my drivetrain ready to go, wheels, rear suspension, most everything but I am lacking in money right now. my employer went belly up and it's hard to build anything on unemployment.

Things I would like to see available here at LoCost USA:
build a database of parts, measurements, serial /part numbers etc Ex:
rear ends, face to face, gear ratios, lsd/not etc.

Motors weights sizes,
High perf/not/whatever.

useful information with sketchup drawings where applicable. I am learning sketchup and when I can I intend to draw all my drivetrain parts and post them.

ok..Ramble off/

Tim, there are some ideas and enthusiasm there. It's been a struggle to make the info here more organized. Maybe you could help on this by picking one or two of the items you mentioned and maintaining a thread on the subject? We can sticky subjects with useful, factual stuff. You can edit your own posts and use that ability to maintain a table of contents in the first post with pointers to pictures or facts etc other places in your thread or other threads...

If you look in my signature there is a library I am trying to maintain in SketchUp for parts and contributions from our members. Any drawings are a big help. So when you upload drawings to the warehouse, I can point to them from my library...
