Out of money so making a car the Locost way to sell and finnish other builds?
So it starts with setup table from Midlana build. I was going to make another 2nd floor storage out of it.
Have a VW engine and trans left from sale of car to New Zealand they cant buy complete cars.
Have been collecting parts from trades of work.
Manx body, vw pan, seats from Midlana, clear title and lots of tubing.
Idea was to have a quick build have some fun and sell..Wrong

So first thing the VW pan was totel junk and I saved it for 2 years.
Started complete frame build. Not being able to leave anything alone I first thought to use the Miata spindels and quickly remembered it was to be a quick build. So it was to be stoke dementions and not cut body

While moching it up noticed some Porsche wheels 15" fronts and 17" rears mind must be slipping because don't remember them. But can't build without wheels so must have known I had them. Now measured for tires this led me to slam the car down low. That ment i had to raise engine and while I was at it move rear wheel back and fronts forward.

So moch up frame ended up with engine up 3" or until fan shroud hit body and spring tube moved back 1". Front beam forward 1" and up 1" or untill stearing box hit body.
Now frame could get started.

By now if I had used a stock pan I would be wiring Maybe.
So now the juggling begins. Gather all the parts that have a place to go. Gas tank, stearing, shocks, seats, ect. and start dreaming. I always try and tack weld entire car together so I can move and change easier.

Decided to not do a cage yet because realy have not chosen seats. So while I look for seats I will install gas tank. Hoped the new stock one would just drop in wrong. Remember i moved beam. Leson is HAVE all parts before you start.
At least now it holds more.

So frame is coming a long had to cut rear of body out. Will be able to make a storage box over trans. Removable front frame bars let me leave front of body sealed

Lots of welding and no dreaded tack weld POPs. Now battery and shock mounts and to see if body goes back on.
Thats it for now back to Calif.for work

B85 you are quit the builder I would love to have a full body on my Midlana like the Lotus you are using I will follow your build. My friend Kartracer has the talents to build really nice bodies you should look him up for pointers.
