I had the opportunity to spend Tuesday afternoon with Glen and Scott Mineheart at the 'Stalker Cave' in St Petersburg, FL. I took a few photos of current events and thought I'd share here.

Interesting stuff. Looks like they do fine work.

How about a Fisher Fury hard top style body? With a cage, they could lower the sills for real doors and keep the rigidity. VW Ghia door glass and hardware, windscreen, and back glass. That would be awesome!

Miata,

You should drop the Minegearts a line and share your idea. FWIW, when I was there visiting, Glen was showing me around. In a corner, next to a Stalker, was something covered up. I asked Glen about it and he said it was a secret. That's all he would share and I didn't push my curiosity any further. Whatever it was, it was not a Stalker; very low, very sleek and seemingly open cockpit. :?:

Why? They are members here as are many stalker builders. Of course, nobody has to be a member to gather info.

I like the original with the small v6 rather than all this new stuff. Enjoyed the video of that builder in Hunstville a few times.

Glen, Scott and I communicate regularly via text, phone calls, some emails and very rarely (these days) on the Stalker forum and never on this forum, nor any other 7-related forum other than the one mentioned. That's 'why'.

Touchy touchy! I'm not accusing you of being a spy.

I guess my idea will just be between you, me, and the rest of the world wide web.

If you are not learning or sharing, then why are you on the web at all?

No secret to keep. The Mineheart's don't do much forum chat. Too busy building and selling product, I suppose. I've just found that it's easier to send a text or make a phone call when I need/want to chat.

Sounds good. I have a hard enough time building one car, much less 150 or so (so far). Brunton must be very proud!

I fully understand; one car is project enough for me.

Hi All:

I had a chance to visit with my Doppleganger (in name anyway) at Fisher Motorcars back in 2003. It was a neat facility, and I was seriously considering it as a build. Unfortunately, I am 6'9"and I couldn't even go for a ride along. My wife went for a spin in a BEC Fury, and said it was a blast, even in the rain.

The make really sanitary cars, and Mark is a super guy. Less than 6 months later, the skeleton of my Locost build came up on eBay, and I found myself on another path.

Mark, Builder of "Invincible II(a?)"

Yeah, I love those. I settled for a Spitfire for a tiny fraction of the kit price.

Thanks for the pics! I built a 3.4 Stalker and it was pretty damn fast till the aerodynamics caught up with it. Have you had a chance to ride in the M-spec cockpit? I understand that buffeting and wind noise are a lot better, but is that at the cost of claustrophobia? Is the IRS as big an improvement on the street as I'd expect?

kreb,

I haven't had a chance to drive, or ride in, the M-spec, but after getting a good 'up close' look a the car, I believe it's safe to say that claustrophobia will be a none-issue. As for the ride, you might post your question on the USA7 forum; one or two members there were previous straight-axle-turned-M-spec-owners and could easily answer your question.

I visited their shop probably three years ago. Back then I think they did offer an IRS for more money, but it wasn't standard. I believe I mentioned I'd want an IRS, and I imagine they heard that a lot. One day, when I have the time and money for a fun car, I'll have to look them up again.
