Not really Whoops, I'm just happy for the effort.

Wondering why it seems every factory ITB is now oval on the head side?

BMW M3 looks like a good candidate, need to find dimensions or get one in hand to measure myself.

OBX Racing may have a unit that would work if I can get them as six bodies without their "Kit" for specific vehicles.
They had one unit on feeBay at $100.00, I need six.

Early GSXR throttle bodies are 39-45mm depending on engine size, and come apart with nuts and bolts, as in not cast together. a set of four typically runs $100-120. People use them on turbo Subaru builds frequently.

something like this

This is more curiosity than a need or a plan, but has anyone looked at using the Hilborn Modular fuel injectors? I stopped by their booth at a car show and thought they might be an interesting solution for older engines (pre-EFI) or bike-engined builds. They have a system with ECU, sensors, etc., but I wondered if megasquirt would match up with them too. It isn't obvious from the photo below, but they're meant for unique situations where a custom intake manifold might be built.

Cheers,

GSXR are at least close to round on the mounting end but I do not see tabs for attachment so I guess they use an adapter boot.

Hillborn should certainly work if they are not silly expensive.

Hard to comparison shop when you have to send an email begging to know the price to every manufacturer, which they do not answer.

Maybe for quad valve engines?

Got a pricing answer from TWM .
Kind of expensive at this time, but probably the best available answer if I can swing the swag to pay for them.
If I go this route I will have more into the engine than the rest of the car, and I started with a virtually FREE engine! :ack:

The 3 BBL bodies are being phased out but we still have a few sets available..46mm only which is perfect for you.

2 x 46mm 3bbl Bodies with Integrated Fuel Rails
TPS with plug and pins
6 x Fuel Injectors for your HP and RPM needs
$1940 Delivered to RENO

The only grandfather I ever knew (Step) was a Scotch survivor of the Great Depression.
He taught me to be CHEAP!
I know I can rig up something for a lot less, but with my 61st birthday coming up I'm beginning to be willing to spend money if it saves me significant time and effort.
The Weber/PMO carbs are over $4K and ancient used Weber IDA40-3's in need of rebuilding and just hope they have no cracks are still more than the TWM bodies.
I'm trying to get my head around the new price reality of $6.00 - 10.00 hamburgers and $40.00 for a nice sit down lunch, with $100.00 for a decent dinner for two not being unusual.
At the hardware store today a stainless steel thermos type drink cup was priced at $40.00!
From that perspective under $2K delivered and pretty complete may not be all that expensive?
Only the price of less than fifty glorified adult sippy cups!

Not going to get to build too many more cars, I've had to give up some you would not believe, usually about the time the hardest work was done.
So I am DETERMINED to see this one completed while I can still drive it.
Am I talking myself into buying the TWM's? :?
The extremely rare Inglese Buick V6/Weber manifold cost me about $500.00 alone, in for a penny in for a pound?
This is the first time I ever actually named a car, "Trick-6" for Triumph - Buick V6.
With IR F.I. it should certainly qualify as being "Trick". :)

Richard,

With my 76th birthday coming up too soon I understand from whence you come all too well. All though I did scrimp where ever I could there are some areas of my build that don't come close to 'Locost'. Just don't tell my wife.

BTW what is 'TWM'? Not familiar with that one.

TWM were one of the first to begin making dedicated custom throttle bodies.
Now owned by Borla.
Lots of very trick stuff available if you have deep pockets.

I checked out the link you posted. Great looking stuff. A little pricey. I liked their TPS. It wasn't too far price wise from the stock Toyota unit I had to buy a little while ago. The TBs however would make me look for alternatives ;<P

Thanks

Yep.. rubber (silicone) boot in most cases, some of them (maybe its aftermarket) Use a vband. I don't really see that as a downside? Its a fantastic heat insulator from the engine. As far as the engine side, It'd be as simple as making a flange with a lip to attach the boot to..

This may have been covered somewhere here but I did not re-read all fourteen pages.

Engine, 3.8 Buick V6 normally aspirated.
Intake is Inglese IR meant for Weber IDA-3's.
Budget EFI solution  is Bike EFI bodies on custom adapters.
MS II 3.0 control.
EDIS 6 and coil pack.

Not sure about wide or narrow band, or if injectors will high or low impedence.
Those are items I still need to buy.

I found a NOS 5" 36 -1 timing wheel on feeBay for cheap.
What I have going here should eventually yield a distributor-less ignition and I.R. EFI.

My concern for the moment is that this is a freshly built engine with no prior run time.
So I'm thinking I need to run it in on a carb and distributor before getting into "Tuning" a custom Ign/EFI system.

Hello all...
After reading through 9 pages of this thread and not finding what I´m looking for, I have a question regarding Megasquirt to Mustang Engine harness.
My version of Megasquirt has provisions for 1 O2 sensor either NB or WB, but the engine harness has two O2 sensors.
Is it worth the hassle to add the imput to megasquirt and have two O2 sensors at all times?
Or am I better off to have only one?
One thing that has come to my mind is having both installed and a selector switch to monitor both readings while tuning.
Your views on this subject are really apreciated.

PS: This was posted in locostbuilders.co.uk also.

You did not say if it was a harness from a V8, V6 or I4 Mustang. Assuming it a I4, I would think the second O2 sensor is for a post Cat sensor, so the ECU can tell if the cat is running well. If your V6 or V8 there will be one for each cat. If the Megasquirt can use both it would be useful.
