I have an original Locost kit manufactured by the now defunct CMC. The fenders supplied by CMC and on my assembled car will not maintain their proper position over the wheel when driven at high track speeds and over uneven pavement that cause severe front end vibration.

Does anyone have a solution to improve the originally supplied mounting brackets and cycle fenders. The movement of the fenders at speed makes the car undriveable and I am considering a switch to clam shell fenders although I would prefer to keep the cycle fenders for many reasons.

Thanks,

AWSLocost7

How do!

Why don't you take a bunch of pics of the fender/mounts so we can see what you have there?

I am running CMC brackets with Al fenders without any problems.

We have folks that have solved this and I think you'll get some pictures and comments soon.

I think what you'll hear is that bar stock, even 1/4" thick allows too much vibration and eventually fatigues. So people have better luck with brackets made from tubing because it's thicker and therefor stiffer...

Pictures will help. It's possible Graham has different mounts ( CMC may have changed them ) or maybe just the difference in weight is enough. I'll step back and let people with experience give you answers...

I used 3/4" Dia. heavy wall [.100" thk] tubing for the main fender supports. Have not had any problems for +40K miles. Dave W
