I've been searching the web and calling custom motorcycle shops looking for a source for clutch and throttle cables. A few places said they could cut one down in size but nobody knows where to source 7-8 ft long cables.

Back in the 70's I worked in a motorcycle shop and we would cut what we needed off a big reel and solder the ends on. I guess those days are gone.

Any ideas?

Had the same problem finding a throttle cable. Local bicycle shop had bulk cable. Had to finish the ends myself but that was no big deal.

Good luck!

Try ultralight supplies. Or talk to Bob at Aerocontrols; he may be able to custom make them for you. He once owned a real 7.

You can also try Midwest Control Products:

http://www.midwestcontrol.com/

I think there may have been some people on this board that have used them before to make custom cables.

I've not used these guys but a quick Google found them. if they don't have the right end fittings, perhaps your shops can use the cable and crimp the ends on. Is 12 ft long enough?

Thanks guys.

Bicycle cables I think would be too light duty for clutch on an R1 engine.

Aerocontrols is a possibility but a bit of a hassle and probably expensive.

I've bought stuff from Midwest before but I think all their cables are push/pull.

jrracecar has some good long cables at a reasonable price.

I ended up buying this kit from ebay.

16 ft of cable and a whole bunch of ends to play with.
