Went out to the shop for a bit today.
Made up a construction paper template for the dash. Transferred it to 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood, I've used this for the previous 2 builds and am very happy with it as a dash material. Cut out the dash, marked up the placement for the instrument panel, headlight switch, and instrument dimmer switch. Applied some filler wherever the wood splintered. Cut out holes, and used epoxy, hardwood, and screws to mount the switches and instrument cluster.
Just some pics of todays efforts.

Next is mounting the heater switch, the pull/push heater coolant shutoff valve, the cig lighter, and 2 power points

Another thought - 8 bolts and a temp floor pan, hmmm, may be a video in the works..........

Not much to show for a days work.
Worked on the dash board today. Drilled holes and fitted heater switch, push/pull coolant shutoff valve, cig lighter, and 2 power points. Sanded, applied sealer, primer, and then final paint in hammered metal. Painted headlight and dimmer switch black.

I dunno, Perry, that would be a pretty full day in my garage. I guess that's why you're on your third Locost and I'm still on numero uno. Oh well, what ya gunna do?

Cheers,

I could use a couple of slow garage days like that myself. 8)

Yeah, well I wish I had your computing program skills. I'm still chiseling rocks into wheels.

Made it out to the shop this afternoon for a bit. Cut 2 pieces of 1 3/4" sq tube and worked them into headlight/signal light mounts. Attached them to the frame. Worked on front wiring harness. I now have headlights hi/low beam, front marker lights, left and right signal lights, and horn.
Some pics.

Thanks JD, I flashback to my younger years watching the Flintstones, man that was quite a few haircuts ago.

Spent the afternoon in the shop. Took the rear fenders and mounted them. Sounds easy, but here's the story.
Measured and marked bolt hole locations for the right rear fender. Now I always drill 3/32" holes prior to drilling whatever the final size will be. I do that because I've had larger or final size drill bits wander as you drill your work and when you try to align holes you wonder where you went wrong. Anyhow, I double checked fitment and drilled my final size holes for the fender. Then transferred the hole marks to the frame, drilled 3/32", checked fitment, drilled final size for nutserts, installed nutserts, and checked the fender fit to the frame. Easy peasy. Now I take the right fender and place it mirror image on the right fender and mark the hole locations on the fender. Then I take the right side frame measurements and mark the left side frame. Take the left fender and do all of the above to it as the right fender. Mounted both fenders, stood back and patted myself on the back. Walked to the rear of the 7 and raised an eyebrow - something didn't look right. The rear of the left fender looked lower than the right fender. Rechecked both fenders for exact fitment to the frame-good, checked frame itself-good, measured the arc length of each fender 58" - good. Put a straight edge across bottom of frame and see that the rear of the left fender is 3/8" lower than the right. Now that's a head scratcher believe me.
So after much thought I believe I found the answer. My 7 is just like a human, and some parts of the human anatomy hang lower than other same parts, that's just the way it is, no matter if my car is male or female.
So to please my eye I removed the left fender and removed 3/8" of material from it. Now my car looks balanced again. And no one will know the difference, except whoever reads this post.

I then went on to mount the rear tail lights and wire them up. I now proved the tail lights, both signal lights, brake lights, B/U lights, and hazard light operation.

Did not go to the shop today!
Week ago I ordered the LEGO Caterham 7, waited eagerly for it to arrive. Went to the post office today, yippee!!
Brought the model home, opened the box and commenced building while Mr Seven stood on the kitchen table watching me and advising me on the build. 5 hours later I was done. I set the 7 on the floor and giggled as Mr Seven walked up to the Caterham, got in, and took it for it's first drive! See youtube video, enjoy!!!!

So, you've got talent as an animator too, Perry? That was a fun little video.

Cheers,

Made it out to the shop today for a bit.
Purchased a 5/8" bayonet spot face cutter in anticipation of building the front fender mounts. It worked as expected, drilled out a backing plate bolt hole to 1/4" and back cut a spot for a 5/8" spacer and 5/16" bolt.

Fabbed up the base mount for both sides. Cut and welded the fender stand offs.

Measured, test fit, tweaked, and tacked everything in place.

I'll have to come back to this one again, Perry. I'm not quite understanding it tonight. I think that has more to do with a long day wire brushing, welding and grinding rather than your photos or explanation.

Cheers,
