So I have lurked on this forum for years. I have always wanted to build a Locost and gotten close a few times. A few years ago I had a C5 Vette that I wrecked at a racetrack and when I parted it out I was amazed that I actually made money on it even totaled.

It got me thinking why not do a exo-style car with a C5 chassis and drivetrain. I think around that time the roadkill show made a C4 Vette "gokart". Which was pretty similar to what I was thinking. Then I came across this build and decided to do something similar but with a less polished rat rod approach:

Overall there are a lot of upsides to going this route versus a locost. For one when it is completed you get a pretty similar experience as far as driving it. It is also massively cheaper. If you part of the C5 carefully you can easily make money on the whole build. I broke even but I bought a nice seat, brakes, wheels, and tires. Additionally the whole build is a lot simpler, it really only took me a few weeks to cut up the jeep body and get it installed. If I was to do the build again I could probably do everything in about a month. And unlike most Locost/AryelAt0m/Ex0cet my car has fully working ABS!

Obviously this is not nearly as cool as a real Locost but I figured some of you guys would be interested in it!

Oh and because I know you guys will want to know.
It is 2450lbs with 52/48 weight distribution. I could definitely get it under 2300 with a fiberglass or aluminum body (they come up for sale used cheap on occasion), lexan hood, lightweight battery, lighter exhaust/brakes.

Awesome! Please post a pic of the rear of the car showing the license plate location. I assume it is registered and titled.
Good build

I love the Jeep theme - plenty of the ___-Kart builds look kind of hacked up (which is what a lot of them are going for...), but you did the Jeep thing really well and I think it really makes the build. Well done!
