I think this is a rebodied Spitfire, the rear suspension and frame definitely is and I think this is one of the ugliest Locosts I have ever seen! I have NO affiliation with the seller....

Details matter!
It's listed as being in Hollywood, but it's actually in NZ.
So $2K+ in shipping and a big DMV hassle once it's here.

That's a beauty Rich. You must be very proud. (just pulling your chain)

For the right price, I'd drive it but I it started out too "rich" (get it?) for my blood tacking on 2k to ship.

"mechanics dream"!

?????? Not sure I follow your post intent? :?

Not mine, and I might be a limited bidder too if it were actually already in the U.S.
I have a set of 13" Spitfire wire wheels in the shed which would greatly improve the looks.
I have no idea what the engine actually is as I don's speak Japanese? model gibberish, but for the right price it could be changed out.
I predict that this one will not sell unless the buyer fails to read the description.

Thats a Lynx based on triumph herald built in the 1980s in auckland NZ, yeah thing of beauty aint it. In saying that they can go good as light car with a bigger engine. read the questions and answers from the NZ site https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listin ... 1958414416

I am sorting through my parts to do a future Spitfire based build.
But I intend to keep the body lines "Proper"!
And use the Spitfire engine too.

My uncle used to know a guy that ate something that tasted so horrible he had to lick a cat's ass to get the taste out of his mouth. This car is the visual equivalent. That's strange, because things like wheels usually don't bother me. I think it is because instead of painting the wheels a respectable black, he had the audacity to paint the damn things bright yellow with an equally bright red background.

It is not the wheel color, but that pinkish red body with the wheels. If the car were repainted in, say, BRG, then those bright yellow wheels would be OK IMO. But even then, I wouldn't want it.

"And I shall name her, 'Snorkus'."

If the fenders were lowered and moved forward, it would help... for starters.

Sorry Richard, I was speaking to Rich(Spitfun).

I can see the inner donkervoort peeking! Headlights back 6 inches and swap to 5 inchers, raise the back 6 inches along with the spare, new traditional style screen frame, flatten the bonnet, cut off the running boards and raise the rear end of the front fenders. It's a start anyway.

The engine is a Datsun which is very similar to the British A-series motor found in the earlier MG Midgets.

It isn't based on the spitfire, but the stubby little herald (though many parts interchange). It looks like they just put a sevenesque body on.

It looks like the body is all fiberglass.

I think the main problem is what would be the cowl area on a Locost. It looks like the designer went for a Series IV style hood/cowl design. Whatever, my wtf-indicator keeps zeroing in on that area.

The Herald has a more robust frame than the Spitfire. Spitfire uses its rockers for strength as well where as the Herald frame is fully self supporting.

The nose area looks pretty bulky on this one. Moving the front fenders (forward) and head lights (up) around might help a bit. It went really cheap though.
