Have the Allies actually won 32 years straight or have they "won" 32 years straight?
Depends on which side you ask! There have been some "creative" class bumps by both sides. (I once won B-Mod in an MGB. I was the only car in B-Mod.) Our man JK Jackson (of TR6 fame) used to recruit other TR owners for the event. We'd have a dozen Triumphs show up, run in various classes, and then go back to their garages. The other guys have done some of the same stuff with various Hondas, etc. Seems like one year the same Honda Civic was in EP, FP and D Mod with different drivers.
Mostly, it's a "just for fun" contest. The Axis guys know they're going to lose, and start hollerin' about our "fuzzy math" or oddball class bumps before any of it actually happens. It's all part of the event.
For whatever reason, we don't see many German cars any time, or for A-vs-A. There's one family that has two BMW's that race with us often (and very well, I might add!) and one or two more that showed up Sunday. We have some Subaru's, not as many as there used to be maybe 10 years ago, again, I don't know a reason. I remember two of 'em Sunday. Toyotas? Occasionally, not often. Hondas are the main "Axis" cars that take part. There's a strong local contingent of (mostly) younger guys that hot rod their Civics or CRXs and run with us.
The Allies are mostly American cars these days, since the TR group has kind of faded. We had lots of Mustangs, three or four Camaros, and a Corvette. And one, By-God-Made-In-America SLOTUS! Several Mustangs had two drivers as did two of the Camaros. One Mustang had three drivers, one of which was in some odd class or other.
But the Allies always win. We say, "Who are we to change history?"
Peace, Love and "History!"--
