I am being forced to find a new email service.
My small local service cannot reliably handle my email any longer as the big companies routinely refuse to recognize their "Certificate" no matter how recent.
So they refuse to process my emails.
Then I get irate at poor service as the system locks up.

Thus, my current email is washing their hands of the whole ordeal.
I despise Google and their very biased censorship.
Yahoo overwhelms me with unrelated trash.
Outlook also wants to enroll me into a plethora of trash I have no interest in.

So looking for an email company large enough to not be swatted away by the big three but still focused on service rather than inundating me with irrelevant tripe for clicks.

Obviously Yahoo and Google are the big two. Outlook is not an e-mail provider to my best knowledge. I don't know anyone with an eMail address with xxxx@outlook.com I have a suffix of sbcglobal.com which was from my internet provider way back when. It was then tuned over to yahoo but I still have the same email account. They do have some censorship. I have a friend that is constantly put into my outlook bulk mail folder. I have tried filters but have not been able to fix that yet fixed that.

Another big one is hotmail?

I don't have any good answer for you, unless you want to set up and pay for your own domain.

Yes you do Chuck, my email provider is xxxxxxxx@outlook.com. been using them for a few years now with no issues. My wife's email is a hotmail.com account, she also has no issues.

Perry, son of a gun. I wasn't aware of that. Does that require an Outlook 365 or Office 365 whatever the MS subscription service is?

I had my own domain for a long time until I shut down the business and got tired of the high domain registration fee's for renewal.
But I will take a look.

EDIT: Hmm, several acceptable but long domain names are available.
Have to look at details.

I'd recommend Joker.com for domain registration.

I'm using Microsoft 365 on my MacBook Pro

Finally found one, Swiss based and encrypted, so privacy is as assured as possible.

Protonmail.com

Protonmail.com

I have been using them for several years. Signed up when it was in beta.

Generally, I like them. However, keep in mind that the email is encrypted from them too. Which means they and their app/site can't search the content of your emails, other than the subject line.

Doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but after a few years, it can be a bit of a pain. Worse, it's not obvious during searching that the process is only searching the subject line so you end up wasting quite a bit of time before figuring out what's going on.

Supposedly they've been working on a solution, but it's been at least a year if not longer and none has been forthcoming.

If they'd fix that, I'd have no reservations about using them.

Yahoo coupled with Ghostery and AdBlock Plus, here- and very happy. Those are freeware programs which you absolutely should have regardless.

I agree: do not support Google! Mind you, I am not thrilled supporting yahoo, with their "slant" on news (I'll leave it at that).

One not mentioned is Junomail. I use them as my spam catcher.

I've used sdf.org for mail for... at least fifteen years now. They also provide a shell account and web hosting. So far they've been stone reliable and unbelievably cheap.
