Hi guys,

A little parental bragging here .................
This is my son's Challenger Jaguar replica -kit- car! The frame is made mostly of 1" square tubing similar to the Locost space frame and it was galvanized after fabrication! The body is a fiberglass pop off from a 1961 Jaguar roadster. Jaguar gave the company permission to pop the mold as long as they didn't represent the car -as- a Jaguar. Just think, a Jaguar that won't rust!! :shock:

The running gear, motor etc is all Jaguar XJ6. The fiberglass, running gear and motor are quite heavy and the complete car weighs about the same as a stock XKE Jag (~2500 lbs). Unfortunately the company that made the kit in the UK is out of business.

This picture was made at a local English car show. The car really fakes out people and it is hard to tell the car from a real Jag. The main external difference is that the tunnel is -very- wide and square looking. It really confuses people that know Jags when they see it

You can see many more pictures of it with details at;

Here is a link to the Challenger site with more details of these unique cars (no, I'm not a Challenger sales person :-)

Fantastic! E-type looks with relatively modern gunning gear and body that won't run!

There was a kit for the miata, using an e-type front clip.

An e-type clip and extended front subframe for moving the front wheels forward for a longer wheelbase makes sense. It would make those big engine installations much easier and shift the cg aft for any given config. Just a foot or less added to the wheelbase would do.

Hey there, david here, i am the owner/builder/modifier of the challenger XKE replica. i have been lurking on this site on and off for years, i guess it is finally time to join. I need more excuses to sit in front of my computer and avoid the hot garage (LOL).

anyways, i am more modifying this car than building it, as it was pretty nice when i bought it. The interior is very rough, but now the car is mechanically reliable, well as reliable as an XKE can be anyways. Most systems are now new or rebuilt. If you go to my website you can read more on it...

there is a very nice BMW kit for miata, transforms the whole car. The Miata is nice as it is, not sure what the benefit is to messing with the body...

I'm familiar with the BMW kit.

The point would be to increase the wheelbase by moving the rack forward of the oil pan and crank damper, while allowing an oem type header to clear the firewall and a lower engine mounting to clear the hood with a reduced cg height. There would be room to install the radiator in the oem position versus underneath the core support with reduced ground clearance. Moving the front wheels forward shifts the cg aft. Installing the heavier powerplant moved the cg forward.

The body mod is a result, since the oem hood and fenders would no longer fit.

it even made it to youtube.

i saw this a while back on ebay. The proportions look good except the back is too deep. Obviously needs a paint job. After seeing the youtube pictures, it looks like it might be a one off, the bodywork at the flares is yucky, like an unfinished one-off.

i am not sure what you are saying here. Are you saying you and your cuz are building one now? if so, where, i would love to assist if i could. Used CCC's are for sale in england occasionally and the other one in the USA was for sale but i think he decided to keep it. There is another one in Canada, and someone in CA is contemplating bringing one here from the UK. Anyways, keep me posted or contact me if you need information. Any XJ6 will provide a lot of the parts you need, probably best to buy a cheap running XJ6 (pre AJ40), and strip it!!!
