Ok, so I guess it's time that I post some details on my 'project'.

Car Details

Street and Track car (70/30).

Mid-engined LMP style chassis.

Wheelbase (Still deciding) ~95”
Front Track 57.9” (Stock S2000)
Rear Track 59.4” (Stock S2000)

Inboard pushrod suspension using the Dynamic shocks from the Shelby Series 1.

S2000 front and rear spindles, hubs, rotors and callipers (for now…need something lighter)

Steering rack – TBD (~29 ¾” width used for calculations. Open to donor suggestions)

Yamaha R1 engine shaft drive to S2000 4.1 LSD, possibly a Quaife reverse unit

Front Suspension Design WIP

2 ½” roll center height
8° Static Caster
-0.5° Static Camber

Some dimensions in the attached graphs are in millimeters (mm), but don't let them frighten you. Just multiple by 25.4 to get inches. :D

More information on the geometry. (Again, dimensions are in mm)

My apologies that I don't recognise it but what program are you using here?

Thanks,
Chris

It's Bill Mitchell's WinGeo3.

Hopefully I'll be able to have some updated data posted soon for both front and rear.

OK Mike, time for an update! Let's see this 8" driveshaft already!

Are the dynamic shocks that you want to use monotube? Because if they are twin tube dampers they will not work in that position..

Not to be a conversion nazi or anything, but you'll find dividing millimeter measurements by 25.4 will give you inch units that are a bit more reasonable.

When I get it, you'll see it! :D

Basically they're just going to cannibalize the stock driveshaft from the S2000 for the CV, add a short neck down from a 2.5" shaft to a 2" and weld on the mating MG U-Joint and flange. Nothing spectacular, but it will do what I need in almost the length I need!

I guess it's been a little while so time for a short photo update.

I'm sure these will get posted out of order so I apologize in advance for any confusion.

The chassis is almost a full roller now (finally). I still have to make some tie rod adapters for the front, and some adjustable toe links for the rear before I can really consider it a true roller. I haven't done any work on it since the holidays but hopefully this will all happen in March now that work is winding down.

I've had a long internal debate with myself about reverse vs no reverse. At this point I'm pretty well resigned to no reverse. An electric reverse can always be added later with minimal effort if I think it's required. The engine is just shown in location and isn't mounted yet. The infamous 8" driveshaft is attached to locate the engine.

The suspension works as designed, but I'll probably have to invest in some different springs once it's complete. Right now I'm at 200# all around. Theoretical should be around 275-300 and 200 if I recall. Either way I'll play with that once I know the final actual weight.

Next big purchases/to dos:
1) Final engine placement
2) Fab some side pod structures for fuel tank and battery
3) Fuel cell purchase and install
4) Electrics install
5) Seat belt install (shown as roll bar style but are really bolt in...I'll be adding a support bar)
6) Mounting the remote resevoirs for the pedals
7) Aluminum floor pan/undertray install.
8) etc.

It's not the nicest build by any means, but it's coming along and will hopefully be fun to drive once it's completed.

And yes, I know...the state of the garage has deteriorated over time. :BDH:
