You can tell that Moti doesn't watch NASCAR. The word is "Boogitty" (repeated 3X) and that's what Rusty's car did during his test drive!

Rusty Sr-
Can I buy ya a beer some day?

I'd enjoy that . . . actually I don't drink alcohol but would love a Diet Pepsi w/Lime.
I notice you're from Florida. Let's do our sipin' in your neighborhood . . . and as long as I'm dreaming . . .

Florida – blackened red fish and fresh grilled red snapper, steamed stone crabs and shrimp, skewers of fresh fruit, key lime pie, margaritas and genuine Cohibas on the veranda while we listen to the scree of pelicans and gulls aloft on the breaking crest of the incoming tide and watch red sails of distant boats fade in the tangerine dusk.

. . . or something like that.

Thanks for posting,

I took some video, but I can't find the right USB cable to download it... You'll just have to wait I guess...

It's amazing how long the wheelbase looks without the bonnet in place.

Nice pics.

I know. I've had others make the same comment, but I'm actually 4-5 inches shorter than a book frame. - IIRC I have a 90" wheelbase, same as a Miata. I think once the engine cover and scuttle are on it will look even shorter - maybe even a little stubby...

Thanks man! It was a big payday.

No, I haven't actually placed the order yet, but I think that's going to happen this week or next.

The ride, surprisingly, wasn't too bad. I really haven't taken it out and really exposed it to the real world. I've mostly been puttering around the neighborhood at lower speeds and on very smooth (relatively) new pavement. - These are 60-series tires so there's a lot of give in them.

Just going off my (rusty as hell) memory, the miata's wheelbase is actually shorter than that, just under 89", the book car has ~92" WB, the HR is ~94" and a Caterham CSR has a 91" WB.

Rusty,

Congratulations on your first drive!

I was thinking of the power bulge or scoop you're going to have to put on your hood. If you wanted to, you could probably make it less pronounced if you trim the top of the timing gear cover off (see photo below). I think a valve cover off a Ford Escort 1.8, which doesn't have the timing belt cover integral to the valve cover, would work as well.

I saw that done somewhere on the flyinmiata site and toyed with the idea. Does anybody know how much height it would knock off? - Also, has anybody with this mod had problems with "junk" being caught in the cam gears and wreaking havoc (or even just accelerated wear???)
