Pretty basic build. 442 with S2000 engine and trans (may upgrade to supra down the road). For 8.8 IRS (from continental if that matters). Not sure what fronts to use yet but I would like something that will fit the continental rear pattern.

I am a professional auto fabricator by trade and will be trying to get this car on the road by spring (while working after work :-P).I would also like to use parts that are readily available in new form or very easy to get. This is an extension of a tuning program that has been developed where I work (we build turbo systems for S2000). The only real step left is to make a better car

Here are some pics.

My 438whp pickup truck :P Yes I know its a rabbit, but it thinks its a PU truck. And the build table.

I am about 8 hours into the build now.

After work I will get some shop pics posted,as well as some of the things I build.

If anyone has any suggestions on what good readily available spindles and hubs for the front that match the continental ones LMK. My buddy owns a junk yard and I get freebies (ok I trade for beer).

If you want a normal height spindle, just swap cobra hubs and rotors on for a 5x4.5 pattern.

Check out lincoln mark viii, 90s tbirds, and cougars to see what I mean.

You can modify mustang fox body strut type spindles with a bracket to mount an upper ball joint, then use ranger rotors for 5 x 4.5 after you convert the diff.

So should I get the MK VIII spindles as well with matching bolt pattern and brakes? Are people modifying these spindles? It looks like people are cutting off the part that goes to the upper control arm.

Cutting them off is an idea, but the only guy that did that is on a different forum now.

I can't think of the name of it at the moment, but his name is similar to the one he used here.

I guess its all continental parts. They will all be here tomorrow after work. Its all free stuff so I guess if its not going to work its not a big deal. Maybe its something I can weld something onto or otherwise modify in some way.

I think the fwd continental from 98 up has the same 5x4.25 pattern. It uses struts so the spindles could be adapted. Just gut the outer cv joint atom-style.

I don't wanna detract from your build thread, but I love mk1 VW's (used to have a Caddy), I have to ask for some more details on that thing because it sounds crazy!

Ok so it looks like if I cut off the upper part of the spindle where the sway bar hooks up I can weld a boss onto the spindle in line with the axis of spindle rotation and keep the stock geometry.

Nice man, looking forward to see this project.

Also, for everyone else... this guy probably has the most robotic welds out of anyone I've ever met. Back when I had a MK1 VW project, he did the custom turbo exhaust manifold for me, and a host of other things on that car.

You can probably cut a lot off that upper leg. Miata uprights are about 8" tall. That's about the height of the Triumph style ones too.

I think the spindles you want if you want to cut off the top part are from a t-bird. They have a large boss for the sway bar mount that gets redrilled as the upper ball joint mount (see ramtuffs deman page). Otherwise all the other parts are the same mn12 parts.
Wheel choices are limited in that bolt pattern.
