I've been having an interent connection problem for some time now that could even be my computer and it's getting gradually worse ...

Many times I select my link from my browser be it Bing mostly or another through Google Chrome and sometimes, getting towards often now, there is a very annoying time lag even to the point of nothing or a time out.

I watch the 2 little monitors down the bottom that show sending and receiving of data and both just stay blue for 100% of the time when this happens as such ...

One weird thing is that if I am getting the websites but excruciatingly slow, if I stop the page loading under that circumstance, I get the page immediately (the 'X' pictured here) ...

I have opened Ctrl/Alt/Delete and turned everything off that I can, 'msconfig' to stop everything loading I can, turned off anti-virus but to no avail. I try turning off the modem and WiFi and rebooting them helps sometimes but not always and same with rebooting the computer, sometimes helps sometimes not.

I have cleaned the system countless times, reset Windows back in time, etc, etc. and I don't know what to do next, any advice appreciated ....

It even happened halfway through posting this - the symptom there is when I go to post what I have written it won't, then it kicks me out, I lose the post and I have to log in from scratch again.

If I have a lot to say in a post, I open a word doc or note pad, type it there along with my super long logon pasted from this site, then paste as necessary if I get locked out.

My wife's computer had an issue with Chrome a while back. It seemed to be common on the search I did. Have you tried using internet explorer or another browser? What operating system are you using?

If you're using windows do the following:

Hit CTRL+R (run window should appear)
Type "cmd" then hit enter
Type "ping www.yourmom.com" then hit enter
It should display a response time in milliseconds for four tries and give statistics. If you have a decent internet connection you should get a number between 1ms and 150ms response time.

If your ping times to sites seem normal, and another browser works normally, I bet chrome is hosed.

Here are some links to ideas for fixes:

Yup, do that thanks, I just copy it, only need to paste it to notepad if I am going to reboot the system - doesn't take way the annoyance of it all though.

Thanks WJ, will look into it.
