Here's one out in the Los Angeles area. Looks like a good base to build on. Don't know how much you're looking to spend though.

I talked to the guy that bought my uncle's Kelmark at a local show and shine today. He hasn't done anything with it yet, but said he's going to put an Olds 455 in the back with a Riviera transaxle. He must have meant a Toronado transaxle, the Riviera was rear wheel drive. Apparently there were about 10 or so originally built like that back in the day. The guy does lots of car restorations and customer fab work, so he should be able to pull it off.

good grief, Charlie Brown.... 455 is a torque monster. I think I'd take four plugs out before starting that one up

There was a joke/story about a Lotus with an engine swap, don't recall the details but most any Lotus and most any engine would "fit" the story...

"They put a small-block Chevy in an original Lotus 7 chassis. Started the motor, blipped the throttle twice... And bent the frame."

*EDIT* After reading that, I think just setting the Chevy down in the frame would bend it, no starting/blipping required!

'79-'85 were FWD; common platform with the Toro/Eldo. I don't know which transaxle they used, but at least one had the BOP bellhousing pattern since the Olds V8 was the base engine, and those were never available with any other bolt pattern.

[edit] one of the car pages says the engine was "longitudinal". It may have used the original Toro/Eldo transmission. Those were monsters with Turbo 475 guts and 12-bolt differentials.

Anyway, if a 307/350 will bolt up, so will a 455; all had the same bolt pattern.

Eldo 500 should be no problem..... replacing seat cushions will get expensive

The one my uncle sold is still sitting in the guy's driveway, I wonder if he'll get around to doing anything with it before the body is toast. It's been stored inside pretty much since new, now it's sitting outside in the weather. It's kind of funny that my uncle bought it as a running car with VW drivetrain, stripped it all out and never finished it, and now he's bought another VW based kit car to sruise around in. Should have just left the Kelmark alone and he would have had a cool car to drive for the past 20 years.

You are not going to find a cheaper deal than this one unless it's been wrecked!

Only $800, I'm very tempted by it myself!

Plenty of room for your Alfa engine, and it'd save a ton of bodywork!

I also know know I'd want to put a V6-5 Speed Fiero under it! :BH:
OP should grab this one.

Possiby changing jobs and then having to do a long commute so not the best time to get another project.
But there is a TR7 convertible that "Ran when parked" I am kind of looking at.
Only because it would be fairly good on gas and is much less of a project than all my current projects.
