Built some stone steps next to the house last weekend. Deer hooves were eroding the old pathway.
Started by hauling 1500 lbs. of rock down from the mountains in my old van, digging out half a rotting stump and adding half a yard of fill dirt.
Already have fresh hoof prints in the soft dirt, but the hillside is now stable.
Doing this kind of stuff was a lot easier when I was (much) younger.

I have a pretty good idea just how hard that work is. Nicely done!

Thanks, guys. They’re not the Spanish Steps but they came out ok. Only used 1000lb. of the rock, so the leftover 500lbs. + 200lbs. more have been redirected to another honey-do project. No peace for the wicked…

If the wet weather settles in soon I'll be back to the locost build before my back gives out. Hmmm, good thing my locost is weighing less than the rock.

I did a 50' stairway/walkway up the front of my house in Allen Block back in 2009. I have been in physio since. I know the work that that is.

Old Man Muscle comes with a price - it's called Voltaren.

Looks pretty rich Tom, I like the looks of the steps, kinda blends in with nature.
Jealous of the greenery you still have there, no leaves on trees in my part of the woods

Hey Tom,

Steps look really good but what the hell were you thinking? That's heavy duty labor. I would have had my wife do it.

Cheers!
