Lost a friend of mine yesterday. He was my wife's best friend's husband.
We've been friends since the first time we met almost 30 years ago, just instantly hit it off when we met. Our birthdays are 366 days apart, he's a year and a day older than me.
I'm
sure many of you have friends like thiss. Someone who you might not see for months or years, but as soon as you see each oterh you pick up the conversation where you left off. No awkward silence or warm up period to get rolling again.
I don't have many of those people in my life and he'll be greatly missed.
He's one of two good friends that I built canoes for/ with about 25 years ago. Sadly the canoes have outlived both of them

We did a mini- resto on his boat back in the Spring. We both knew he was in the end stages of liver disease. We decided to have a few days of absolute normal just working together and talking about nothing. It's not that I didn't acknowledge he was sick, just that it wasn't going to define how we hung out.

I hope St Peter met him at the pearly gates with either a fly rod or a pistol; just can't see him playing a harp and calling it heaven.
