This ad just tured up in my browser this morning. I don't have any plans to buy one, but it seems like it would be well suited to a light, flat undertray, Locost.

It's so cheap, it kind of falls into that "too good to be true" category. Maybe they make their money on the shipping? I dunno, it's so cheap, maybe I should get one?

Super low cost car lift here

Cheers,

Umm...you go first. If we don't hear from you for a while, then that will be considered the review.

Sure looks like the traditional scam ad I see on facebook all the time. Same ad layout style. No way for 50 will you get the lift. You will get a cheap $5 hand drill. Period. Note the page carefully. The lift is 1,500 marked down from 2,000

I tried to buy a laser engraver for $30 from one of those ads  What I got was a pair of safety glasses worth a buck or two. :BH: After several run arounds with the seller, I went to PayPal. PayPal quickly refunded my payment.

BEWARE. Be very aware!

Hi Lonnie,

I don't know if that's a legitimate ad or not but I can tell you that one of the guys that runs a D Sports Racer at our local track uses a lift just like that. His is homemade but looks essentially the same and is also drill operated. Also operated by ratchet after the drill ran out of battery one week-end. The lift easily handles the weight of the DSR and is nicely stable when fully raised as it goes a little "over center" and "locks" itself. It is a little wiggly when not fully extended. It makes working on the DSR a pleasure, puts the whole car at workbench height. If the ad is legit I'd say that it's so cheap that you should try it out...if nothing else you could cut the lift into steel pieces and get value from that. Let us know if you get one.

Bill

I didn't try to buy one, but decided to research things more. The actual product is real and legitimate. However, it is typically sold through dealers in several countries for ~$1,500 U.S. Something is wrong with this ad. Being misleading is a huge red flag, of course, even if they sell the product in the end. I'd go with a licensed and reputable dealer if I wanted one.

Also, the platform will not adjust narrowly enough for a Locost. The minimum is 51 inches (~1295 mm), so not right for us.

I did find there are several similar products from Asia that will adjust narrowly enough for us. However, I'll leave to another day. I don't need it right now.

Cheers,

Not the angled lift, but a quickjack can be had around that price.

Yeah I was going to say that I got my QuickJack for like $1000, it can be adjusted to fit any vehicle width, and it's not a teeter-totter of death.
