I have read that R is essential to the integrity of the chassis. But I question if it's positioning is due to the nature of the original design and engine donor having the intake on the left side of the chassis.

Can R be moved to the left side if your intake is on the right? It sure would make for alot more room. Or is R specifically there for some torsional ridgity due to engine torque.

I'm no mechanical engineeer. I'm just hacking my way through this. What ya'll think?

People have done all sorts with R ... made it into a Y, moved it around to suit packaging. I plan on putting on one bolt sides, but it might morph into a Y instead of just a plain R tube or just some diagonal tubes installed wherever they fit around the intake and exhaust.

This is what I guess I plan on doing. fwiw, my engine set back will be quite a bit more.. and lower.
