In the UK a lot of folks have used Austin Mini ones cut down. I'll thinking that maybe something like Geo Metro/Chev Sprint/Pontiac Firefly/Suzuki Swift ones might work.

Those are the ones used in the Mini I think. I'm going to be using a set that came from an MG Midget with a few MGB pieces. The motors are the expensive part but the design is very versatile. You can put the wheel boxes (aka the wiper fittings) anywhere you want, just run a flexible cable to them housed in a large piece of hard brake line.

for spraying the washer fluild my old Spitfire had a really slick manual pump setup - worked well and no electrics to run (or fail). I don't know how many other Brit cars had a similar system.

You can find a similiar washer system on 67-68 Mustangs, so with all the restoration places for Mustangs in the US, those should find those readily available.
