A company called G A Steel in Houston, TX.
they have by far the best prices for hot rolled square tube I've found. It is allegedly A513, and has not been descaled.. but for $8.96/ 24 foot stick, I'd rather spend the time descaling it. they also only charge $1/ cut, and ship nationwide. The complete square tubing needed to make a book frame shipped to my door in CT was $205
I'll be all in on the frame (minus additional gusseting and body panels) for $260.
I found the tubing and plate local to me in the mis cuts and leftovers section of my local steel mill. This order from my local steel mill would have been $340 picked up. The cheapest I found online from the big distributors (metals depot, online metals, speedy metal) was $355 WITH a coupon for 15% off..
