Yes, that's a nice technique. I couldn't quite understand what he said though.

I know he said "a piece of wooden dowel with a ???? glued on, then use your valve grinding paste . . ."

What was it he glued onto the end of the dowel?

Thought I’d share a recent project. I really like the engine turned aluminum but even the abrasive stick was beyond my budget. Went with an overlay - about $25 ish. Not a wrap but an adhesive overlay. I’m happy with the results!

I went with boring old black wrinkle finish. To me, the less distractions the better, which includes bright/shiny/reflective surfaces. I don't like the faux chrome present in many cars for the same reason.

I ended up applying a walnut burlwood veneer to a steel dash panel. Then finished it with several coats of Minwax clear.


I found a Saab walnut knob to match with the same shift pattern of the MGB trans and have since covered the tunnel top panel with black marine grade vinyl to match the speedster style seats.


I am thinking of covering the tunnel sides and rear bulkhead with the vinyl as well. Then install outer panels against the body in black vinyl as well.
