I would like to build a Locost chassis, use a Miata donor, and use the body panels purchased from Caterham. Does anyone have experience building with this philosophy? Thank you. |

Locost bodywork is not complex and does not require a high skill set to create. There is more than one source for the fiberglass parts. Mounting the body is more complex than forming the panels. |

Engine choice primarily determines the chassis size. Chassis size determines what nose and scuttle will fit or need modification. Wider and taller allows a flat bonnet without protrusions and good ground clearance to the oil pan. Build for a 1/2 inch bonnet to highest point on the engine and oil pan hanging one inch below the chassis. Wings, nose, and scuttle would probably cost about $2000USD shipped. Going through a US Caterham Distributor would probably add to the cost. |
