OUCH!

I was a spectator at a 1/4 mile oval stock car race once where it started sprinkling at one end of the track and three cars went through the same hole in the fence that the first car made. They sort of ended up on top of each other when the dirt settled. We were sitting on top of the dirt hill where they ended up. Afterwards we decided to find another place to sit!!

From what I've read somewhere, Sterling Moss didn't like seat belts and used to sit on them when the early belt rules specified that the car had to have a belt. He said he'd rather be thrown out of the car in a crash.

Would rather be thrown out of the car during a crash. I don't know, I have very little interest in being catapulted into space by my own vehicle.

I'm with you. But he probably said that when they didn't have roll bars either!

He's quite a guy. Out of 527 races he entered, he finished 375 times (40%). Of the 375 races he finished, he won 212 (56%).

Just thought I'd bump this one back to the top for a while. I'm sure we've got some new guys that haven't seen it. Interesting look at safety, or a lack thereof, back in the day! :?
