Seems the crank intended for my Dio Tipo Buick 225 V6 and CR Saginaw in a TR4 chassis build has nicks in some of the rod journals. :(
Finding a replacement is being more difficult than expected.

So what do I chance across?
An NOS billet Moldex 225 odd-fire crankshaft!
And the Carrillo rods to complete it.
Which of course would require new pistons since the cheap cast versions would be a waste.

Scary thing about this is that I am actually considering doing it.
Maybe barely affordable, if I take advantage of the new CC temporary low interest rate.

Here is the bottom line question since this is supposed to be a build for eventual resale.
Am I more likely to see a faster and more lucrative sale with the trick engine using these parts than I would with stock crank/rods and mundane cast no-name pistons?

HP may increase significantly, if I can put together a sufficient valve-train and cam safe RPM will certainly go up.

Hope has been that I might get this build on BAT, part of why I have been careful to use only period correct parts to match the vintage vibe of the body and chassis. Yes, Moldex has been around a long time so is acceptable.

I recall some members have sold multiple cars, hopefully at a profit.
Some of you have done BAT too.

Thoughts?

Question 743? Why would you be married to an older odd fire when newer 3.8 engines are dirt cheap and 4.1 is only a few bucks more? You could get either one for way less than the price of the rods.

I don't know about the processes or the prices, but there are companies that will build up your old crank and re-machine if necessary. Have you looked into that?

Completed car has to retain a 60's Sports-Racer theme.
Vintage or accurate vintage replica's seem to sell higher and faster than modern build "Kit Car's".
So I have old SW gauges, a TR4 chassis, the odd-fire V6, and a close ratio Saginaw four speed.
Even-fire V6 is just a tad too new.
I have 231's for other builds but I want this one to be odd-fire, partially for the unique sound.
Have to set it apart from other builds.
Going to make the seller an offer, which may be rejected.

EDIT: Offer made. NOS parts so not paying full retail if the offer is accepted.

Not sure if this is "Hot Damn" or "Oh Damn"?
It seems my offer is being accepted!
So getting ultimate parts for a little over half of current retail.
Of course I will not be doing that well for the custom forged pistons.
May now have to complete this car to meet track specs, but which .Org to go for?

Bought!
3.6 Stroke, so that makes the engine a 245".
Never built a "Stroker" before.
