Hi, thought I should show my build. Took 6 years but it is road legal and insured in Ontario Canada. She is powered by a Honda D16y8 (not my dream engine but cheap to buy, modify and is light weight) with upgraded rods and pistons, Arp head studs, 520cc injectors, chipped ecu, and Garrett T3 turbo running 12psi of boost. I'm in the process of installing a Mfactory LSD and a Competition Clutch.
HKS blow off valve and Subaru WRX intercooler
Miata uprights, steering rack, and rear brakes
Willwood 4 piston calipers up front with Wilwood master cylinders for brakes and clutch and AEM 12" rotors with aluminum hats
Push rods front and rear with Yamaha R6 shocks
Konig ultra light rims with 205 40r17 Falkin rt615 tires
Sparco seats and harnesses
rci 16 gallon fuel cell behind seats
Main Frame Tubing/roll bar is 2" .090 and .063 tubing
Body work is .040 aluminum

Plan to autocross this summer at Barrie Molson Centre.
Here are some random pics, I will take and upload more when the snow melts as most pics I have are too big to upload.

Don't take this wrong, but man that thing looks massive! It might just be the flat black paint. It looks good, just large.

What size tubing did you use?

How does it drive & handle, that's the important part.

Weight's not that bad at all. Like I said, it might just be the menacing flat black paint.

I'm impressed.

It appears you've given some thought towards a windshield. Any specific glass you've been looking at?

It handles pretty good still need to play with the alignment. Biggest problem I had was no traction, hopefully new diff takes care of that. Only had it on the road for about a month before it got to cold.

This picture makes it look a little smaller. Car ahead of me is a Mazda 3 and the dog is a golden retriever

I always planned on having a custom windshield made but it is not required in Ontario. For now I'm just using lexan to keep some wind out of my face. I would also have to install window wipers if I have a windshield.

Congratulations. That is one of the best Exos I've ever seen. I love the way you handled your front roll bar.
I am curious how you got it registered and inspected. Ontario and BC are different, no doubt, but I was always under the impression, that a 7 type u-built can be inspected without meeting modern safety standards (Airbags, bumpers etc), since it is based on a 1960s original.

Thanks for the kind words.

It is registered as a kit car so there was no structural inspection. As far as the safety inspection goes finding the right mechanic is the key. I rented a uhaul dolly got the car weighed and then started driving around town to different shops. The first two told me " that thing can't go on the road ". The third shop the guys were great, the mechanic who signed the safety builds race cars and said I did a great job. You need to find a real car crazy guy. We had to wait are around for about 4 hours to hear back for the MTO because they were not sure about not having bumpers. In ontario if the car was not manufactured with bumpers they are not required same goes for the windshield. Other than that vehicles just need to meet basic safety standards lights, horn, brakes, muffler, ect.
As far as insurance goes their is only one company called faculty insurance. Car is insured for $8500 and it costs $220 a month with a clean record and I'm 32 years old.

mgkluft your build looks great.

Cool build but I'd shop around for insurance. Most of us are paying about that per year for our Locosts.

Very sweet. in the pic with the dog, the back end of the Camry (?) gives it scale, and its tiny ;-) sheds a very "Road Warrior"-ish vibe, and doesn't mimic the curved-tube A-tom thing. Nice original design.

I really dig thje picture of the frame upside-down on the graj floor. the frame looks sufficiently overbuilt ;-)
