Well guys I can finally feel good about posting this as done. A 7yr journey with 3-1/2 on the road, yes it has been that long. A couple weeks ago I let my nephew drive it, the smile says it all. It’s fun, a lot of fun. A couple of things are bitter sweet. The home made Brooklands do look cool but are very windy. Getting the Megasquirt does work great but getting to this point was nothing short of painful. Had I not been put in touch with Paul I’d still be screwing with it. If I wasn’t so stubborn and take it to the dyno, damn it I can do it!!!!, LOL. 2yrs later. Don’t buy cheaper tires, just buy some Toyo’s and be done. These cars are so light 200 tread wear I thought was good, HA! NO! Race tires, just buy them. Anyway this is, done and we’re on to the next project. If I can post it to my signature you can follow me to more bad decisions, Ha. |

Haha, yeah I didn't even bother going down that road, as it was pretty clear that they're more of an appearance item than something actually functional. Welcome to the aftermarket ECU tuning club. What most people don't realize is that taking it to a tuner only fixes acceleration and the basic fuel and timing map. They do NOT deal with cold start, idle, steady state driving, and coasting to a light. That part of it takes a very long time to dial in. Fortunately I haven’t had a problem with the screens from lack of protection, they are quite a bit bigger than a standard Brooklands. I’ve seen bugs go over my head, I do sit behind the screen, still quite windy. The tire thing actually did surprise me, no not everyone knows that If you don’t have anything to compare it to. You don’t realize how light they are and the lack of ability to heat up. They will heat but it takes a long time. Tale of the Dragon is 315 corners, it took about 120 of them to heat up. Surprised me. |

Congrats ECU tuning, something that's in my future as well. Tires, hmm, I've got 15x10 Hoosiers on it at the moment.

Still a ways to go before the web of wiring makes an appearance. |
