I used 2 on each side. My bonnet did vibrate and lift near the center. Not a lot, but noticeable when highway driving. I don't think it had anything to do with the latches. If you did not reinforce the front and rear edges in some manner already, you might want to think about doing something for that.

How did you reinforce yours? Or, how do you suggest reinforcing it? I simply bent the .050 sheet and called it good. I do not have any ribs in it nor do I have any louvres.

Gavin, I didn't do anything to reinforce it. I had a 90 degree bend on the 2 sides which sat down on the frame rails. If I were to do it again, I think I would add a 180 degree fold on the front and rear edges. I didn't for several reasons. One was that I was not sure I could do it and not have the fold look invisible. Certainly someone here can provide a proven method for that part.

Gavin,

Your hood is heavier than both mine and Chucks (I'm pretty sure Chuck's is .040 like mine) and probably doesn't need the pull down mione does. The spring type snug mine down quite well. And no I didn't use fender washers either, just a regular washer.

I did however put vinyl door edging on both ends. Didn't add any stiffness but it does keep the thin edges from scratching the nose cone and scuttle. Plus I laid self adhesive foam tape on the frame tubes the hood rests on. Duraco.com is a good source for foam tapes. Lots of choices and they will sample them;<)

I have been working on the interior panels this weekend. I went with a matte black wrap and I am happy with how it turned out.

Looks good Gavin! Blue is looking great also. Are you going to leave them 2-tone?

Cheers!

My my I admire you guys that have the touch to wrap vinyl.
Gavin I see that you've wrapped the muffler, any concerns with the tail pipe?

Amen brother! It is strange to say I miss someone I have never met..... but I do sincerely miss him.

No, I only wrapped the muffler in an effort to protect the skin of my passengers (kids + Briggs).

Do you mean the fenders? If so, yes. At this point I like the overall look and I was able to achieve it on my own rather than paying someone. Like much on this car, it might not be the best option, but it is an option I am able to execute on my own.

I got very little done on the car this week but at least I got something done. I painted all of the visible allen bolts black. I think it makes a nice and subtle difference compared to the raw stainless as shown a few posts before this one. Pay no attention to the 1967 Nissan Patrol in the background, I won't start on that until the 7 is back on the road.

I got a bit done this weekend. Seats are in, hood should stay put, and other buttoning up bits completed. I think I might have to "overbend" the bonnet because it seems to poke out at the bottom edge.

Did you just skim over the windscreen or do you have details about it in a post I missed? I want to just go with a windscreen, so don't have to install a defrost or wipers, but am not sure if Alberta regulations will allow it.

I made it last year 2-3 pages ago? It is basically a piece of Lexan with 3 aluminum triangles at the same angle as the cowl contour. It attaches to the cowl in 4 places so it has 7 fasteners holding it to the cowl. It is a noticeable difference with and without it. I plan to make it about 1.5" taller than it is now because I raised my seat by 0.75" with this new mount.
