This sheet came off of a Sprinter Van that had a window installed, figured it was too nice to just toss.

Played around with the English wheel forming the dash, still lots to do on that front.

The previous engine mounts were not up to the task so I Cobbled these together using Mini cooper LCA bushings, 1uz wristpins as a dowel, and exhaust tubing. There will be an 1/8" or 3/16" flange on either side to the floor when I go bankrupt myself at the metal supply store again.

Work continues on the Sill panels.

A trace of the buck in its current form illustrates a higher window line for the doors along with a side vent. Id like to run a flat floor front to rear and airflow will need a path to flow other then down, hood vents may also be necessary.

Of course the buck also needs to be reworked from some problems with how the front and rear end look, good to catch them now though. Above is a trace with the front grille shortened (yet it still looks large)

The TVR Speed 6 used some clever hood cutouts to visually break up the long hood, is that what is shown on the hood in the rear quarter sketch? Using the trace paper over the photo is a really cool technique for visualising, it looks like a very accurate representation.

I was aiming to to illustrate a hump for the intake but thats a good idea, especially because tvr has had some neat hood vents over the years

Add a layer with a solid color in whatever program your using, then wash it out with the desired transparency. It could be very accurate if you take the time to carefully set lines both along the car and perspective. In this case it's a way to quickly test ideas and find problems, so freehand works.

Got quoted $400 for one sheet of 18ga steel, by my guesstimates the car will need 6-8 more for the body panels.(with precovid being $150 per sheet, this is out of budget)
The options are either put the body on ice for another 6 months or persevere...

Holy moly that's a huge price jump :O

What you've done so far looks awesome, I hope prices come down eventually.

I don't envy you, making those panels looks like alot of work. And here I was poo pooing about modifying some fenders.

The first one does look great though!

I've heard the price of lumber has dropped around 30% in the last month, hopefully steel will follow for you.

That is crazy money. I spent around $60 for a 4x8 sheet of 18ga about 10 years ago. It could be your supplier too. Find where they make the sheets even if it is a drive. Have you considered fiberglass components? I've not looked at the recent cost of polyester resin and fiberglass fabric. I noticed 5/4x16 pt decking went down three dollars over the last couple weeks at home depot. Reasonable now imho.

You may want to build a washer into the mounts that supports the full pad of the aluminum mount brkt on the block instead of just the steel insert.

I agree about getting a better seating surface for the motormounts.

The steel supplier is the only one in a county larger then some states. At this point its more reasonable to purchase online at $2×× per sheet and pay a few hundred for freight shipping, though that's still more then I'd like to pay.(need plain sheets to make the floor), Fiberglass is no good in that I don't like working with it as a material, maybe for kick panels but not for the body.

Its alot of fiddling to get the exact bends you want, but the basic shape is there within a couple hours. So far the metalshapings been more accessible then it may appear.

Thanks everyone for the support

If you are close to I-5 and Imperial HWY, There is an online metals warehouse/storefront that does customer pickup.

Found a Crown Vic 8.8 w/ lsd for cheap! I've been feeling the width of the s197 mustang 7.5 was unnecessary (76" with my wheels) so now I can bring the total down to 72" which will look better, and more importantly the 8.8 will readily handle the 420ft/lbs im throwing its way. It should be a simple swap once the axles bare and the brakes are swapped.

Wireframe around the hood was roughed in well enough to make that part removable, next step is figuring the hinges.

Attachment:
20210929_194258_compress91.jpg

Roughed in the other fender, this time with a Tundra bedside.

Both sill sections have been welded in save for the upper panel, still need to decide on how the third "cell" will look. I'm thinking pull it forward as far as possible in hopes of strengthening the weak area around the engine.

Motor mounts built!

Misc: Reworked the front grille to be smaller by a few inches in all dimensions, making a panel to lengthen the dash though it still needs to be "spliced" together, and finally started spending money to get the motor running.(mostly fittings and turbo shenanigans)

Rolled the car out onto the street for a moment while turning it around and snapped a few pics. You can see the straight on Rear view is a little awkward due to the rear track, but otherwise it looks great.

Some 928 vibes from the rear.
Wireframe makes it look quite nice. Looking forward to some skin being added.

Got the ole 8.8 ready to install, of course its actually wider then the internet said it was by several inches. (Each axle measures 34", internet said 65" total width) The current 7.5's axles should fit the 8.8 diff so I may cobble the two together.(this would also allow me the keep the s197 mustang brakes instead of buying new crown vic units)

A little more quilting

Sony,

Great bit of wheeling so far. That driveline is going to be a downright comical wall of torque. May end up needing some serious rubber. Any tire size the drift guys are using for fronts that'll fit the rear may be helpful. (The super grippy Falkens and other brands)

Even at 2100lbs the ae86 guys need to use softer compounds to get the tires to temp.

Haven't seen this mentioned... Have you considered using a flow control valve or a slipper valve?
Usually used by drag racers combined with a 2 step and 0 wheel speed in first gear to launch. Believe there's an ecu controllable one, but below is a straightforward option.

Tilton makes one that consistently reduces flow to ease engagement. (Saves drivelines on high torque/high traction cars by lowering engagement shock). Has a couple piston sizes to vary the percentages. Might make a super grabby clutch a whole lot more livable and less likely to break loose in the cold/rain.

Believe you would need some AN line and adapters.

Looking forward to seeing the compound curves come to life.

Going to hammer form the headlight surrounds?
