Hi Tad, I'll let you know when the noise is imminent. :D

Well the big day finally arrived. A few fluid leaks were addressed on the systems that have electric pumps. Since the engine is still mounted in it's fancy engine stand without wheels (aka the bare chassis), the exhaust was plumbed outside and just started it up on the build table.

See the video for the minor surprises:

Unfortunately, Tad was out of town. A couple of post run pics:

Man, you do nice work. And, you're quick too.

Cheers,

The sheetmetal work has begun.
The chassis left side panels are about 95% complete. Most of the panels have been made to be removable. A small bubble was incorporated into one by the pedal box to allow for a small dead pedal.

The sidepods have been roughed-in. There will be louvers in the side of each one.

Great build. I'm with Kurt on digging the turbo and intercooler placement. rotaries run pretty hot, and once you add the turbo, that's a lot of heat to reject.

I'm digging on the removable diagonal that runs 'through' the engine. Imagining that would add quite a lot of stiffness. I assume your torsional testing was done prior to adding that and you probably don't have any data on how much it contributes?

Kreb: Thank you.

RTz: The engine bay diagonal was in-place for all of the torsional testing, so I don't have any data on it's contribution.

Completed the hood and the scuttle. The scuttle is in three pieces with the center panel attached with dzus buttons for easy access to the electrical stuff. More attachment points for the clamshells have been made, such that a clam can been lifted off by removing nine button-head allen bolts.

Looks great as usual.
Where do you get your glass (clamshells, nose, wings)?

Looks very aggressive with those meats! Will be interested in how it does with your cooling system.
