Check out the “also consider” links for the rest of the hardware.

Speedway also has an ebay store.

Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I'm looking for but the $56 shipping to Canada for a $15 item is making me consider fabricating my own pieces.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha , isn't that a fact! Makes a guy want to have a cigarette after paying for shipping to Canada

I don't understand those costs to Canada. Man, I could ship it to Botswana by plane for $56 US. Why doesn't NAFTA work better for you guys?

Cheers,

USPS is generally cheaper than FedEx to Canada but most shippers stock USPS medium sized flat rate boxes, at about 55 bucks a crack, no matter where it goes. NAFTA 2 has improved matters considerably by raising the value of imported goods before taxes apply, so packages of lower value (a couple of hundred bucks?) sail through customs without delay and get delivered straight to your mailbox. But buying local, if available, is generally cheaper than on line because of the shipping costs.

Because I didn't want to pay $56 in shipping charges to have the $15 windshield slide arms sent to me, I made my own. They still need to be painted, but they turned out good enough, and they work quite well! A black plastic 3-pointed knob is used to tighten against the slide arm to hold the windshield at the desired position. The notch at the end of the slot is to allow the windshield to automatically latch in the open position when the windshield is pushed fully forward.

Looks good. Might want to add a jamb nut to the screen side so it can be loose enough to rotate without backing off and a fine thread on the wing nut so it will hold better with less effort.

Thanks! I'm going to use a nyloc nut backed off half a turn on the screen side to allow it to rotate without backing off. The 3-pointed plastic wing nut has a coarse thread nut molded into the plastic, which can't be changed out easily. In my preliminary tests, it seems to hold the windshield fine without excessive tightening. If I end up driving with it in the fully tilted out position, the notch at the end of the slide holds the windshield open anyway, so the plastic wing nut is just extra insurance.

Getting closer to having it ready for inspection! After reading through the local motor vehicle act regulations, I added mud flaps to the rear of the car. Not pretty, but I think they will be needed to pass inspection, and I didn't want to run full fenders.

I also got the windshield glass custom cut from a local supplier. I won't be installing any other glass in the car for now, but I might consider it later. The roof panels have also been added but need to be painted or covered. You can see in the picture that the rear roof panel and the front roof panel are joined by a piano hinge that runs the width of the car. The rear roof panel is bolted to the top of the car and the front roof panel can fold back to sit on top of the rear roof panel, so that the driver and front passenger can enjoy open air motoring. :D

The hood needs a bit of tweaking to fit a bit better before I paint it black to match the upper half of the car.

I love it!
Running without fenders makes a mess quickly on seemingly clean and dry roads but you will find out soon enough.

Early fenders used a separate strip to form the outer flange with tabs that rivet to the top of the fender. No compound curves required but not as pretty of course.

Thanks for the feedback! The mud flaps are growing on me so I'll keep them on, and hopefully they are actually effective.

Got the hood primed and painted. Quite happy with what can be done with a spray can when you're on a budget!

Decided to make a teaser video. :D

I should have pushed a bit harder earlier this year to get it on the road this summer, but I'm okay with next summer:

Painted the roof panels today. I'm going to try and have it registered and on the road by July.

I found a local shop that is willing to do the inspection. They said that it will need front fenders so I made some brackets and added cycle fenders. They also said that the short mud flap style fenders that I had on the rear did not provide enough coverage, so I made some new ones that cover more of the rear tires.

I also borrowed some scales from my boss and weighed the car.

Looks good! What is the fender material?

Hopefully you get a break on some of the normal rules since it is a replica.
