There's a lot to be said for a two-piece body. This one looks great! I wish that I'd played my investment game better. Would love to quit this work thing and spend much more of my time assembling beautiful cars like this.

I've been fortunate to be able to "play" and have fun working on some builds.

Today I picked up 2 bodies and my plug/frame. My trailer is 24'. I was able to get all of them in the trailer. My son is going to be home next Saturday for college break. He's going to be helping me build it. Having fun.

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with the way the bodies came out. And, I continue to be happy with the shape. Those that know me know that I'm never satisfied with my creations. :)

I announced earlier that I was going to call my car the Chesnut 214. I had second thoughts. I had my Trademark attorney do some research. The result is that I have filed for the Trademark "Chesnut Wildcat". My inspiration was the Cheetah which is in the Big Cat family. Calling it the Chesnut Wildcat keeps the name in that family but doesn't infringe on the Bill Thomas intellectual property.

Today I started on another frame. I wanted to have my frame to refer to while building it. Once I have the new one tacked together I'll start assembling my car. That should be next week.

Having fun

So what's with the slit between the lights? Something to do with getting it out of the molds?

If I build one, I want to put a Toyota V12 in it!

I think what you are calling a split is a seam line. We did not have to cut the body. The mold is made in multiple pieces that bolt together. If it were not made this way the body would not come out of the mold. The seam lines are visible on the first nose. You'll notice that there aren't any around the nose of the second one. The fiberglass guy sanded down the seams, sprayed gel coat on them and buffed them out. All bodies going forward will have the seams touched up like this. This will eliminate a lot of body work.

You are welcome to install any engine you want! :)

Kreb, are you talking about the head-on shot of the two bodies inside the trailer? If so, I think what you're seeing there is a pair of tie-down straps run through the headlight openings!

If not... my bad!

Why?
Looks like a real PITA to make work and even a mild SBC can have it for lunch.
Future parts availability is likely zero.
Sure you can get crazy power with turbo, at astronomical cost, but again a simple Chevy can do the same but much simpler.
If it's just the allure of a V-12 I suggest two alloy block Buick V6's as a much simpler and probably more Locost solution.

I think that you're correct. Silly me.

RichardSIA: If you want something larger than a 6, a LSX is the logical choice. But our hobby contains as much emotion and curiosity as logic. Otherwise we'd all be in Camrys. The Toyota V12 is interesting and fun, and HP races don't interest me. A 325HP Chestnut will be a rocket. Want more? I won't stop you.
