The Queen's English Car Show, Van Nuys, Ca
Got out of the garage yesterday (8-1-21), and drove the Berkeley to the Queen's car show down in SoCal.. The show was well attended and I met some great people.. Steve, the guy who bought my Honda 600 on Bat several years ago, lives nearby and he popped over to visit and see the Berkeley in person. A good time
It was 270 miles round trip for me, and the car did great.. I'm still having heat intrusion issues in the passenger compartment, so I'll continue seal up the body (I think most of my issues now are at the floor level).. On the engine side of cooling, I'm now convinced I'll need to upsize my radiator a bit- The car did fine, but I really have to watch the temp gauge, and it makes me nervous.. If you've ever had a car that 'runs hot,' you know how stressful it can be- I don't like that feeling at all- I'm going to make changes to get this cooling issue off that ragged edge..
It was a hot day, and I tried a "Cooling Vest" that motorcycle guys use.. it's a vest that you soak in water, wring it out slightly, and wear it over your shirt.. you get a little wet, but the evaporative action of the water in the vest sort of pulls your body heat away from you.. certainly it's not AC, butt worked pretty well! At very least it took the edge off of the miserable heat.. This was a trial run really, as I'm headed to Reno in a few days, and it will be very hot there too.. I'll take the cooling vest for sure
A few pics from my spot at the show.. sadly, mine was the only Berkeley there.. Last pic is of of the road construction traffic jam I got caught in just south of Santa Barbara.. I wasn't even upset; just turned up the earbuds, looked out at the passing ocean, and thought there are worse places to be stuck in traffic
